HI HERE I AM LOOKING FOR THE THICKER CARB INSULATION SPACER THAT WAS USED BY RACERS UNTIL THEY OUTLAW IT IN 2CV RACING .
THIS SPACER WAS MEANT TO IMPROVE TORQUE OF A SERIES ENGINES.
I AM NOT USING IT FOR RACING BUT GOING TO PUT IT ON MY TRIKE TO SEE IF IT IMPROVE THE TORQUE WHEN TOWING MY TRAILER.
IF ANYBODY HAVE STILL GOT ONE OF THESE SPACERS PLEASE LET ME KNOW HOW MUCH YOU WANT FOR IT AND WERE TO SEND THE PAYMENT TOO.CHEERS REVBADTOAD.

I think the thicker spacers were fitted to Visa twins (? maybe also LNA).

i would make one derek if i knew how thick i can go with it causing fuel delveiery problems.

Rev,

why don't you try and put two spacers together.  This should achieve some as what you're after.  Your main problem will be the length of the studs on the manifold and whether you have enough space to fit the carb' and still get a nut on top.  The theory on why it performs better is that the air coming through the carb has more time to turn the 90 degrees in to the inlet manifold before smashing in to the bottom of the plenum chamber below the carb, thus causing less disruption to the airflow.

There are many things to try on fast road engines, but before you even go to things like that have you put Denso Iriduim plugs in?  These are probably the best plug around and widely used throughout the club and proven on the rolling road.  Simple and effective, remove three blades from the fan (equally spaced ie 1, 4, 7).  On your trike I suspect the engine is more exposed anyway?   Temperature gauges should help you monitor this.  Again, very simple but equally effective.  1/2 bhp per three blades removed. Carb Jetting is always an area where power can be lost and found so easily but you may need to do it on a dyno for proper comaprisons.  All our race engines are setup this way.

Regards

Andrew
