Title: Crash Helmets
Post by: Simon Crook on April 27, 2008, 12:54:04
I have just been given a New System III Evolution Crash helmet made by BMW (or someone else for them) from one of my sponsors, its a fall face helmet which opens up to make it an open face when needed, it has the right markings on it, as per the blue book, will I be able to use it, as really, its a Motorcycle Helmet ???

Simon,
Hate to say it, but probably not.
Unless it has the correct BS 6658 sticker on it, or Snell 2000 or 2005 certification it won't be approved for motorsport.
If it has the CE mark for bike helmets, its a definate no, because that is not yeu approved
Cheers
Trevor

Hi Marc,

I wish I knew, I am working out of the Country until October (odd visits back to the UK) the car has been painted, all the bits that are needed are now got, the first engine is with Paul (2nd one waiting), when Mr Sparrow says "bring the car down I have the space" the car will go to him for 'his bit' and thats it, I am very lucky with the sponsors I have which is a bonus, they will all carry through to next season.

If all goes well, I will race every round (depending on the format) in 2009 and will have an entry in the 24hr (once the car is finished its easier to plan my yearly schedule, I can put it in the small print).

did you get my email about the windows

Simon
