Title: seat frames
Post by: philip myatt on May 12, 2008, 19:48:25
Hi all
Following the seat frame situation at Pembury we have been discussing the options with the MSA, at present they're not being very constructive about alternatives and telling us to comply with the Blue book.
Their current interpretation is that slots are not permitted and the Chief Scrut for Oulton has been advised to look out for infringements.
Please consider your options before race day so that we don't have any last minute panic's.
I'll keep you updated, but don't hold your breath.

Philip

I gather, second-hand, that there was some query over seat sliding mechanisms at Pembrey. But, as so often happens, our amiable scrute did not explain the matter to all entrants, so what we heard was just a bit of gossip.

Phil - can you tell us all, simply, what he found that concerned him?

In simple terms - any seat mounting frames that had slots to adjust the seat for different drivers were considered ineligble. The MSA's current interpretation is that you can only have a hole for the bolts to pass through, not a slot. However, the Blue book gives a force requirement to comply with, but each assembly would need to be tested to prove its worthyness.
