Title: circuits for next season
Post by: Paul Robertson on September 05, 2008, 12:18:55
Following my chat with Ian Watson today the committe would like some feedback on what cicuits we would like to go to next year.
Obviously mallory for the 20 year anniversary and snetterton for the 24hr are almost 100%,but where else wouild you like to go and how many rounds are we to try and organise ?
Do we ask for the same as this yeari.e 4+24hr or would you prefer 5 or6?
The circuits up for use are Anglesey,Brands,Cadwell,Croft,Knockhill(if we can get a deal for our format),Oulton,Mallory and Silverstone.
Your feedback would be very helpful.
Paul

I'm not going to skew the poll as I'm not going to be doing much racing next year; Knockhill (of course) or Croft - either/or is probably better - and Cadwell would be my choices.

What about Lydden Hill & Silverstone -Stowe?

Yes, of course, Lydden

Both Lydden and Stowe would  be too small for the number of entrants if we have the same level of interest that we have had this year

Certain staff at Pembrey have been difficult over the past few years, and I believe were downright rude to various members of the committee this year

A pity Lydden won't be on the list, but that's a great reason not to go

Stuff it, lets go all the way and have a Six Nations Touring championship, Just like the rugby!

Mallory (20yrs) event  (England)
Mondello (Ireland)  (24Hr)
Knockhill (Scotland)
Anglesey (Wales)
Criox (France)
Adria (Italy)

If Rockingham is six times dull, as Trevor says, may I advocate the inclusion of two circuits that certainly aren't? Namely, Cadwell and Brands, that must be counted among the most challenging in the country...

Pembrey - for all it's rain, has always been a great circuit for 2CV racing. Surely issues over staff are not a very good reason for not racing there.

No doubt BARC is aware of the problem and most likely are seeking a solution. HR matters like that can take a while to sort.

Re Pembrey.
Has electric hook-up. We can use in 2007 but not this year.
Has metalled paddock. We can use in 2007 but not this year
Has club house which we are not permitted to use as a club
Circuit manager has made it clear he holds us with little regard
Plus with Honda having been modified has made circuit little challenge.
The votes already cast have shown the way so far.

When England was playing all the TV's in bar were faulty according Mr davies & his Welsh staff (sorry trevor) !!!! But surprise surprise (sorry Cilla) for the game that followed later that evening every one was fully functional......

I should think anyone who went to pembrey this year would be happy for it not to darken our season again, wasnt the best club experience I've ever had. There are lots of better options out there!

I must have been wandering around with my head in the clouds, then, because I never noticed anything! But I don't usually plug my tent into the mains or watch rugby matches.

Plus there's a 950-mile round trip.....

Why do I dislike Rockingham?
Treated us like crap a few years ago
The circuits are not very interesting - dull in fact
Concrete walls are very unforgiving
If you overshoot the first corner, you have to go all the way around the oval and rejoin at turn 4
The place is lifeless, nothing there for pre / post race entertainment, it's in the middle of an industrial area
Driving around seeing the massive grandstands totally empty would be soul-destroying, it was bad enough driving the course car
Difficult to get marshals to attend
All in all, wrong circuit, wrong place
All personal views of course!!

I agree with you about Rockingham, use it as an oval (as intended) driving an Ascar or a Rockingham 2000 car round and round  ;D ;D ;D
