Title: Sports car for £50
Post by: Frank Barnard on December 12, 2008, 12:36:04
It may be heresy to talk of another marque but a neighbour has a Mark 1 Toyota MR2 about to be scrapped. It was roadworthy eighteen months ago. Engine and box are good, the interior ditto, the bodywork suspect. Is anyone interested in rescuing it for restoration or spares? Alternatively, it could be prepped for the MR2 race series, in which case I'd put some money in. Could fill the gaps between the 2CV dates. Can be viewed near Rye, Sussex.

Hi Frank

I been looking on ebay for a MR2. Think its a mid life crisis or something along those lines.
Do you think you might be able to email me some picture and find out why it was taken of the road.

Cheers

MArc

Too wet to take a photo! It's a red coupe anyway. It was bought for a kid by his indulgent grandma. Then he got more interested in m/bikes so it got parked up in a yard where it's been since. No idea what state it's in, but it was running with the remnants of an MoT when granny purchased it. Actually there's a runner on eBay right now with bids nudging over £500...

Sorry, when I say 'no idea what state it's in' I mean bodywork...the mechanicals were working okay apparently.

Hi Frank

Im very interested in it. Not down till christmas day. Is that going to be too late. Want to have a look at it before i commit to anything. If its no good for tme road wise it might be a nice trackday or race car project

Christmas Day is not exactly convenient Marc. Academic anyway I'm afraid. It's been snapped up by an MR2 racer. Incidentally he told us it will cost £1.8k-£2k to prep for the series...
