Title: harnesses
Post by: Simon Crook on January 27, 2009, 19:41:23
Just checked my harness in the race car and seen the date on the FIA tag says "Not valid after 2007" so is that a given I can NOT use them ???

I'm afraid so. A couple of years ago the MSA adopted the FIA 'lifing' rules for belts, such that every set of belts has a 5 year (I think) life on them, no matter how much they're used. Once they're past their expiry date, you can't use them for UK MSA sanctioned circuit racing.

Thanks Chris, just had that confirmed by the MSA (B****R)

Chris you being the man in the know: Do we get a discount from Sabelt as I am now in the market for a new harness..............

I'm not sure what prices you can get at Sabelt, but I know these guys do very 'cost-effective' harnesses. I have used them myself:

http://www.ricco-racing.com/shop.php

£89.95 + £13.50 p&p for a 4-point harness.
£95.95 + £13.50 p&p for a 6-point harness.

Thanks Chris.................... and Paul I will say it before you, if I had got my finger out and finished the car when I brought it I would have had a season and a half use out of them!
