Title: Spa Francorchamps
Post by: Flying Dutchman Niels on September 10, 2009, 21:18:58
Hello all,

We Dutch had such a good time at Snetterton that we want to try another 24 hour race this year.
We have therefor entered the Spa 24 hour race.

However we think it will not be a big succes without any overseas guests. We therefor like to invite you
all to come over to Belgium and enjoy a beer or two in our hospitality unit (i.e. blue and white tent).
So please come around because we plan to make this race just one big party.

We also like to receive some advise about Spa from some of you who competed at Spa the last few years,
especially concerning adjustments that had to be made to the car before you could compete. We have all
the rules in frensh, but my froggy is not as it should be.

Please send me a small email if you want to help : [email protected]

It would also be nice if there will be other UK spec cars at Spa, so we can make it a nice race.
Please let me know if any of you will be there as well.

Best regards,

Niels
FD Racing

Hi all
As of this morning the Spa 24 has been finally confirmed, for those that didn't know Spa had their license suspended approx 2 weeks ago and getting news has been difficult.
The UK will again be represented, this year by Philip Myatt, David O'Keeffe, Pete Sparrow and Alec Graham
in the number 63 BMW engined car.
Is anyone coming out to cheer us along, if not try looking for updates on www.24h2cv.be

Not this year, sadly; too much work to do. And the prototype engine's not finished yet.

Best of luck and have fun; I can't get there to egg you on/hurl insults this year. How I'll miss camping in the sleet. Have they a live video feed, or are we ahead of them in that area?

Sleet? Not last year, no precipitation at all. Bit foggy at the top of the hill at times though. Beautiful, sunny and autumnal.

Thanks to an introduction by Phil, I will also be there (having missed the 24 hour at Snetterton this year) driving the number 70 car for Beligian team CGS-RacingTeam.

See you there.  :)

Assuming that the colours indicate classes, is that a 3rd in Ameliorée for the Flying Dutchmen? Well done to all who went.

And second in class to the car that Steve Burns was in!! Shame POMS had issues with the legality of their tyres and gearbox problems again

Thanks Derek...that was a 3rd place for us indeed with the English spec car in the Ameliorée class....we started at the 46 position and ended 23 overall...great weekend!!!
Bad luck for POMS indeed....great pole position and bad luck with the gear box.....so they had to drink a barrel of beer in our party tent.
Good to meet some of the English in Spa.....see you again at Snett next year!

cheers Kars

Yes, we were indeed 2nd Ameliorée, a great achievement.  Should have won however but for being punted off into the barrier at Pouhon causing damage to the engine, 55 minutes before the end, with a 3 lap lead!!!!!  Hey ho, thats motorsport I suppose.
