Title: Graham Harper R.I.P.
Post by: kinchieman on November 19, 2010, 16:11:59
Sad to report that Graham passed away last night.  Legendary for being the only driver to drive in every single 24hour 2cv race, he will be greatly missed. I have competed against Graham since the mid-1980's when we both did the Scottish Hillclimb and Sprint championships, then we both moved into 2cv racing right at the start. You could not have wished for more helpful or generous opposition.

(Graham at the Snetterton 24hour race in August, wearing the T-shirt he had printed for the first Mondello back in 1990, and leaning on the bonnet that was fitted to his car that year too).

A sad and great loss. Alec and I owed him a lot esp the year before last, he was a real trouper helping out in Alec's first complete season...def couldn't have had those great results without him. What a star....especially turning up with surprise gin and tonic's for me! Goodbye Graham, you will be missed.xxxxxxx

A sad day. The 24hr wont be the same without the great man.maybe the club should name the 24hr trophy the Harper cup or something. A great loss to all who knew him .

I and many others owe a lot to Graham. Racing won't be the same without him. It is hard to sum him up in words, all I can say is that he was a real 'character' and he'll be remembered fondly for his generous spirit, devotion to all things Citroën and for not taking it all too seriously.  Our thoughts are with his family.  John-Paul, Lesley and Deia x

He will be sorely missed, but never forgotten. My thoughts are also with his family and friends.

It was a pleasure to drive with him at Spa, and undoubtedly he was one of the people who got us to where we are today.  A great ambassador for the series, he encapsulated the spirit of the club perfectly.  It is a great honour to be in possession of Wee Fiona, and hopefully we will be able to get it back on the track sometime in the future.  We will all miss him.

Everyone at Hollis Motorsport

For your information; Graham's obituary is in today's Glasgow Herald - the paper version at least; it doesn't seem to be online.
