My thoughts on this are that concerning sprint series there is clearly some considerable driving skill involved in leading the pack - pure power is not ALL that counts.
The 24 hour Snetterton clearly shows that with a couple of exceptions lap times have never been closer, what happens in the 24hr is that we all come to know the circuit well, drive it taking similar lines - any clearly faster CAR shows up.
A new regulated cam will not make the Practical Classics car any faster at Snetterton even after they've paid out all the extra cash for them!
A new regulated cam will make most cars slower - since most engine builders have tuned their engines to what's available now, do we really want to spend the winter re-setting engines to a new cam. spec. - which would have to be AVAILABLE to builders by the end of this season.
