Title: driving standards part2
Post by: gadget on July 06, 2011, 23:00:44
as well as running the racing class and the economy class,is there any intention of running a class for the person who can inflict the most damage to as manycars as possible in any one weekend?
we could call it"the classic2cv stock car and banger class"and no doubt get considerable sponsorship from all our local scrap yards.
i'm not sure if the BARC would want to run this alongside the other two clases but there is allways spedeworth to fall back on!
after the weekend we have had at angelsey i don't think we could bank on the juice people coming on board, i think it may be beyond their product. COPART aand U_PULL IT may be a better bet!
"THE CLASSIC 2CV RACING CLUB STOCK CAR AND BANGER CLASS" does have a certain ring to it,don't you think?
i have drawn up a potential list of entrants for this class

1 nick paton himself(who will take a bit of knocking off the no1 spot)
2 sandro (who must have coached him)
3 shaun mc claughlin(he could do some damage tigger)
4royce (i can mix it grey)
5 mr turner(slip up the inside if i can't)
6  ??
feel free to add to the list like we do with other events
i can see this being a real hit(sorry for the pun).we may be able to talk roy into more sponsorship as well. look at the exyra sales he'll have.and to keep the class tidy we could paint them all the same colour.that way when they get back to parce ferme they can deny touching anyone at all (like they always do).

on a serious note i think a change in the regs is required so we can weld the doors shut and go at it dukes of hazard style, mind you some drivers need to get out quick so they can rob that bank!
So if your out their Bow and Luke you may get a drive in the 24hr

As a regulation change may be difficult to weld the doors up to allow us to race like the "Dukes of Hazzard" and the driving like a bank robber seems a much better option! maybe some of the more excitable drivers and mechanics (driver) may want to look at this link below:-

If the financial implications of entering a class such as this are too much to handle, maybe contact your Norfolk cousins who will be more than willing to help!!!!

Have to say on reflection of anglesey, what a great venue it would be for the 24hour, shame it doesn't have the licence, and of driving standards. They were far better than the complete mad scramble that the Mallory 10 minute races bring (Mike Fox and James Sutcliffe may have different opinions)!!. Looking at the video that was a fair old shove into Rocket that the Gadget car received from Nick but  it was half a lap later when it looks like gadget missed a shift that the race was over for them. Perhaps i'm missing something. I heard Neil took a shove too but the result of that was that nobody could catch him. Well done Neil.
