Title: Recommended spares
Post by: neandethal on July 05, 2012, 10:52:38
Hi,
this will be our first 24 hour race and as such we know nothing!
could an "old hand" recommend a sensible list of spare parts to take, obviously tyres/wheels, brake pads, bulbs, but what about wings, shock absorbers etc, as i would need to get on and buy some of these.

thanks in anticipation, Ian.

go buy a second hand scrapper and take it to the track. Then u got all the bits u need. At the end auction the car.

Job done .

Good night and Good luck

You should probably take as much spares as you can comfortably fit inside whatever vehicle you're using!

Shocks are a good idea.
Definitely wings. If your car has a single piece front end (a good idea) then bring a spare one - light bar, spoiler, wings, bonnet.
Arms are a good idea, particularly if you haven't fitted the Welsh/Belgian mod.
Engine electrical bits, such as points, plugs, coil, leads.
Spare engine + gearbox.
Odd little things like gearchange bush
And of course lots of the things that you'd normally have to hand like clips, screws and bolts, fixers and fastners. Rolls of gaffer tape and zip ties!

Thank you - sounds like panel beating hammers are the order of the day, regards, Ian.

Not necessarily - there are many teams who manage to get through without damage. But the most prepared teams bring spare panels because it's easier to change than to repair...
