Title: Spa Camping
Post by: Mick Storey on September 26, 2012, 20:34:55
Does anyone have any experience of camping at Spa ie where do people camp, are the showers steaming hot, is it an easy walk from the circuit, is there an all night bar, stuff like that

In my experience Spa is freezing cold at night, minus 4 the first time I went. There is nowhere to camp close to the paddock as it is all tarmac but you may be able to get on a grass verge on the lower level but space is very tight. The other option will be outside the circuit for a tent which is a fair walk. The first year I went I tied the tent to my car and some tyres and last year we hired a hospitality suite and slept in there. I'm afraid there is no all night bar, there are some food stalls but these tend to close fairly early. The showers are OK.

The Only Camping as Neil stated is in the field aside the old circuit entrance before the Tunnel, which is used by 100's of spectators and pikeys with the biggest bonfires at night imaginable, but take the tent down soon after the event or the clean up crew will put it in the skip - as Derek found out one year LOL. ;D
Shower block in not brilliant but water is Hot. Beer, chips with mayonaise as available during the day and evening, at night befriend any dutch team and drink theirs........like at Snett.
After the race you have to leave the circuit, so we stayed at a nice B&B with resturant & Bar (with some nice cheap cognac) a few miles from the circuit as its a long drive back up North.

Having spent the weekend keeping your car on the road by fair means or foul! I was in a bit of a huff about that. Maybe a flag and a "Ne me jete pas!" note would be a good idea.

The Dutch techno will keep you awake, unless you're in the pits making the best of shrapnel.
