Post by: Nick clarke on June 24, 2014, 21:43:56

Also where in the blue book does it say we have to wear race boots and gloves in the uk  ? I only see that they
Are strongly recommended

What I found in blue book
9.1.9. Competitors are also strongly advised to wear Flame Resistant gloves, socks, balaclavas and underwear.
Plastic shoes (such as trainers) should be avoided.
If its only a recommendation why do you have to show boots and gloves at uk races ? I'm guessing there are more rules that I have not found :(

I recall a 2CV racer was badly burnt at Spa not so long ago, so probably wise to tog up whatever the Blue Book advises...

You will be required to present your underwear socks etc at spa. Best to wash them first

You'll also need lots of Beer and Chips but you can usually buy those there.

All racewear for Spa HAS to be to the FIA 8856-2000 standard.

Overalls, underwear (including long-johns), balclava, socks, boots and gloves are MANDATORY and will need to be shown at scrutineering.

This is because most European ASNs (motorsports authorities) run to the International Sporting Code regulations, the Blue Book is of no use on the continent in this regard.

If any of your gear is to the previous standard, you will need to shell out for new stuff

Flame resistant gloves and Shoes are MANDATORY in the UK and have been for a couple of years. Have a look at Q10.1.c
