As agreed at last years AGM the 24 Hour race will have individual results for each class.
These will be the official results and therefore no one car/class can claim to have won the 2CV Racing Club 24 Hour Race overall as there will be no combined results sheet.
TSL may still have one lap timing screen for their live timing event to show all cars but published results will be separate.
Next year they can separate the screens as well they tell us.
We welcome other classes while we cannot fill the grid with UK class 2CV's. This year they are paying over 1/3 of the Race Income for the club and we need to work with these classes. Spectators also like high grid numbers.
As we have a spare cup from last year we are proposing to use this as a new cup for the 24 Hour RAce - 2CV Racing Club 24 Hour Handicap
This will be a perpetual cup awarded after all the other cups at the end of the event.
The proposal is as follows:
HANDICAP - how does it work
The Handicap applies to each series and then to each class in a series.
Each class must have a minimum of 3 cars entered.
The Handicap is worked out as follows:
- take the fastest lap of the fastest car in each series during an agreed Handicap Timing Period
- work out the expected number of laps for a Racing Club Standard 2CV car and then deduct 11 Laps to allow for refuelling
- work out the difference between fastest laps of the other series to our cars and then round to a lap number
- then apply this as a handicap as a number of Laps to be added to the Final results
For 2014 event let's assume:
The Handicap Timing Period is the Combined Qualifying
These are the Fastest Laps for each series:
UK - 96 seconds
Mini Grand - 94 seconds
Euro : Hybrid - 92 seconds
Euro: Prototype - 93 seconds
2014 2CV Racing Club Handicap - draft proposal
Seconds in a 24 Hour race 86400

If anyone has any comments on the Handicap system then let me know either (politely) on the forum or email me. We need to agree this by the end of the weekend and it then needs to be approved by BARC.
Will update here the agreed proposal.
Nick, the pit stop part is irrelevant as you are applying the same to all the classes. The Birkett reassess the handicap during the race ,why not set the handicap after say 4hrs,that way you reduce the chances of anyone sandbagging.
Are Pit stops the same for all? Are the hybrids refuelling with tuff jugs?
Sounds like this will be awarded at the next years race.
it might take that long to work out who has actually won!!
Paul is right in that we can take out the pit stop deduction.
Alec, Euros use a faster filling system and have larger tanks so in theory they should have a penalty for that. They use a lot more fuel however so stop more often. It is something we should/could look at in future.
Also happy to go with the 4 Hour bulletin - it will be the fastest lap of each car in each class. Then work out the handicap for each class.
