Title: Engine Conversion
Post by: bakeralec23 on October 14, 2014, 22:51:04
Good evening, I'm planning on doing a race car project that I can use on private track days and use as a fast road car. Just wondering has anyone ever tried putting a motorbike engine engine in a 2cv? For example a r1 engine like most mini's have. I'm after something that will keep up with modern day tuned cars. Any advice would be a great help. Thanks

I think David O'keefe has a Z cars bike engined project?

Alternately you could put a BMW motorbike engine in it which is relatively straight forward.

You can find more info on it here - http://www.sparrowautomotive.co.uk/citroen2cvbmw.html - It's produced by a guy called Pete Sparrow, he won the championship this year.

It's something I've done my self and has been brilliant so far.. Just need to get bucket seats, a roll cage, change my exhaust a bit more, fit a few more oil coolers, plumb in the fire extinguisher - I'm sure you get the picture.

Great videos of the converted cars on youtube.

There was someone who was planning to mid-mount (I think) a Blackbird engine some years ago. He was in Kent as I remember, don't know if it ever happened.
