Done a search on forum but can only find a reference to fore and aft location. Is there a rule regarding how far inboard towards the centre of the car a seat can be located. I know the pedal box must remain in its original location that rather defines it to some degree.
TR 5.3.9
A seat shall be mounted such that the fore/aft centre line of the seat is a minimum of 150mm from the fore/aft centre line of the chassis.
Does the centre line include the entire seat. I.e. the backrest at the top could be reclined and therefore closer to the centre line than the base of the seat.
Curious as to what your thoughts on that one.
Personally I think that the centre of any part of the seat should be considered?
What if the seat's at an angle? It'll both pass and fail, resulting in an existential crisis at the MSA.
Centre of Any part of the seat??!!
Centre of the right hand bolster... ;D
Fore aft centreline of the seat should cut through the entire seat but how do we measure this? Its going to be 800-1000mm above chassis? at some point also the centreline would intersect the centreline of the car, if you were being pedantic!!
