Title: alternator switching/Chassis
Post by: neandethal on September 27, 2022, 11:41:12
Sorry to be so regular.
Mid rewire of the car and so far so good for an electrically inept person, but wanted to understand how it all worked, so if it fails i can fault find.
Am i right in the understanding that you switch off the 12v +ve excitor feed to the alternator to stop it working and therefore reduce the loading on the engine? or is it done another way.
Project progressing well, and working on the assumption i'm not completely rubbish at racing, is it worth the investment in a new SLC chassis for the end of next season, so i can set the chassis/suspension up perfectly and before ken gives up(http://??
Thanks for any help, cheers Ian

What chassis has it got under it now Ian?

And yes, you could just put a switch in the exciter - without which the alternator will not output anything.

Apologise for being useless but not sure what current chassis is but it's not slc as front arms are full box, I'm guessing original citroen.
