Title: Competitor camping
Post by: dshepsman on August 22, 2024, 16:02:59
Hi,

I was looking at the Final instructions, and I'm confused at the camping arrangements.

Can we not pitch up tents at the back of the garages now?

And do all campervan etc need to park over by Murrays? So no campers directly behind the fire lane?

Hi Darren,

Yes I noticed that too, however if you are not already here then you will find that most people are camping where they usually do. As for campervans directly behind the garages, again some people are, some aren't. The main concern with having campervans directly behind the garages is the fire risk I think.

Hi, all:

This camping issue needs prompt attention as to abide by it would take the whole heart out of the weekend. Matt is right - there is a fire risk.

Some odd rules issues arose. We were all told to wear hi-vis on the pit wall at night and when fuelling. Race Control were alerted to the fact that most of these jackets are highly flammable, and things went quiet.

Adding to the curiosity, we were instructed that as it was dawn we should take our hi-viz jackets off!!!

That's true. Half way through the race, we were told we could only refuel with the doors closed... that was the first time we heard about that.

It was never mentioned in the lead up to the race. And then later into the race, we could go back to refuelling with the doors open to sort the belts out
