Title: Oil cooler removal
Post by: Matthew Hollis on April 18, 2005, 12:26:15
Does anybody know any tips or secrets on how to remove the oil cooler unions without breaking the pipes?

We seem to have an uncanny knack of always breaking them when we try to remove them!

If they are second hand almost impossible . You can try feeding alloy cleaner down the side of the pipe it works sometimes.

Is there anywhere that can repair oil coolers after breaking the pipes when removing them?

Cheers

Funnily enough i've bought a 2cv with just such a repair. Got to strip the engine anyway soon so i'll see if i can work out how they have done it. Also if any one is looking for a rust free and fully rebuilt shell i have one at the great price of £600 (no VIN). Suit racer or road car rebuild.
