Post by: Martin Harrold on May 18, 2005, 08:56:00
Last year, plumbed-in fire extinguishers were optional. Are they compulsory this year ? [/b]

I've asked Pete to try his contacts to arrange a bulk purchase discount for any club members that wish to take advantage.
We'll keep you updated on prices.
Cheers

Title: Bulk buys
Post by: Pete Sparrow on October 05, 2005, 20:07:22
Hello all
As you will be aware by now Fire extinguishers are going to be updated for 2006.There may also be a need to buy a new transponder if you have the orange type not the red one but Paul is busy hassling th BARC about this as they told us we had to have orange ones.More on this later.
If you can all have a word round and let me know roughly how many people need each item the I will do the rest.

Pete,
Despite having to buy a new hand held extinguisher to be able to race at Silverstone, I also will need a new plumbed-in job for next year.

However, I was provided with a red AMB transponder when I bought mine, so hopefully I won't have to replace that!!

Cheers

Trevor

I could be tempted to join this club .......... but if you go to www.racecarsdirect.com, you can buy one for £70, which doesn't seem too expensive.

But when the scrutineer fails the car on this point, I'd rather not be on my own, so count me in as well!

Pete, the only thing that comes to mind that's been missed so far is harnesses, which I think need to be FIA marked and dated for next year. That's a bit more of a personal choice though, so possibly not worth bulk-buying.

Derek

Good thinking, this prompted me to check my harness and it says 2002 on it!

Is this something you can look into Pete?  I have the usual Demon Tweeks catalogues but (having spoken to the AWS people about a CarbonX suit) I know they are not the cheapest place in town.  Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Hi guys,

I can lay my hands on good quality 6 point harnesses for only £80. Or 4 point harnesses for £75. This is direct from the manufacturer (Ricco in this case). The only proviso is we'd have to order a few in at a time, otherwise we'd get stiffed for postage, which is a flat rate of £13.50 per order, no matter how many harnesses you buy.

They're FIA approved until 2010, have leightweight aluminium adjusters, and come with eyebolts. Aircraft style turnbuckles. Red, black, or blue colours.

This is the 6-point:

This is the 4-point:

Let me know if you're interested in these, and I can get an order in perhaps...

Chris, sounds good.  I won't need it until the end of Jan so time to get other orders.  Let me have your email address via [email protected] and we can do this off the forum.  Francis

Sorry, I should have mentioned *where* to get those belts!

Have a look at http://www.ricco-racing.com - not exactly a 'name' brand in circuit racing, but they do a lot of rally stuff, and the belts are FIA approved and valid until 2011.
