Title: Overalls for Refuellers etc
Post by: Trevor Williams on December 15, 2005, 10:58:34
Having just received my 2006 licence and therefore my 2006 Blue Book, I have been able to check the regs relating to refueling during races.
Reg J14.2 states that the refueller and the person in attendance with the fire extinguisher must wear overalls complying with Section Q9, plus FIA approved balaclava and gloves.

When this was mentioned in "Startline" it looked as though teams would have to provide FIA overalls for their refuellers etc (at a large cost no doubt)

The Blue Book now states in Q9 that "for all other events including the provisions of J14.2" and then lists the overall approvals which are acceptable. These include all the standards that were removed from approval for racing last year, so it looks like you can use proban etc.

We are still awaiting final clarification on this from the MSA via BARC, but it looks as if a potential extra cost has been avoided!!

Cheers

Trevor

Does anyone know if we have had final clarification on this point?

Will Proban Overalls to BS 6249 standards be acceptable?

cheers

Bob,
Only if they are listed in section Q of the Blue Book.
