All,
I need in the next week a firm idea of anyone interested in ordering BRAND NEW Firestone F560 145x15 tyres. These would be un-buffed, fully treaded tyres.
I am endeavouring to meet with the UK distributor to work out a unit price, but I must have an idea of what kind of quantity we would be looking for.
I am initially looking at an order between 100 to 200 tyres, so once the price is worked out, payment would be required UP FRONT
Please reply here with numbers of tyres required
Cheers
Trevor

4 for me please
4 please; can you ask about 135s too?
derek ,i have some 135's if you are interested some buffed some new.
Blast! And I thought the new buffed set in the garage might be worth something one day! Call me Scrooge!
Thanks Paul, I'll give you a call next time I'm headed south.
I spotted (on ebay, search for 2CV*) that Vintage Tyres were selling Firestone 125s so it may be that all sizes are being produced.
*I wasn't looking for anything, just idly browsing!

Coker Tires in the States are the company who have aquired the moulds for Firestone F560 tyres. I spoke to them on Monday night and they said that they have just sent a couple of container loads of 125s to Europe, that they would be looking to start production of 145s in the forseeable future and 135s as and when demand appeared.
They are only available through distributors in various countries, the UK on being 5 miles from me.
Cheers
Trevor
Ecas and 2CV city both have 125 firestones in stock. £45 or something.
Put me down for 4. Is it ok to put something on 2cvgb forum. Might get more orders?
Marc,
That may well be, but they have to get them through the distributor, I know, I saw an order from ECAS when I was there
Trevor
Just thinking it might get our numbers up meaning we can get the tyres slightly cheaper.
Morning chaps... tally ho' and all that.
I'd like 8 tyres please Trevor.
PS. Guys..... If we all get them from the same place, through our illustrious club captain then we will no doubt get the best deal on price. Trevor is cutting out the middle man and so if we order enough we'll get wholesale prices. Much as I love to her stories of someone seeing 2 sets of 125 in a garage in Banbury when they were a child, I think its best that we leave it in Trevors culpable, I mean capable hands....

4 4 me please
Four for me also, please. Martin H
Does this mean the regs are changing for tyres at the AGM?
Are the newly manufactured tyres going to be the same as the original Firestones or wil the regs have a tyre date attached?
Just curious.

Catherine,
No, just trying to source a supply of the tyres that most people prefer to use.
I will be checking with the manufacturers regarding compound of rubber compared to what Firestone produced.
Also, I will be asking if they can manufacture the tyres with only 4mm of tread to reduce overall costs to the members by negating the need to get them buffed
Regards
Trevor
I have just come across a new tyre that i have not used before on a 2CV. They are made by a company called Kumho. They are amazing. They grip 3 times better than firestones in the wet and dry. They are very good value for money too.
I know we cant use them but is it worth looking into it if firestones dont happen?

Last Chance!
If anyone else apart from those who have posted hear, or who have replied to my text message wants to order Firestone F560 145s, please post here by Sunday 5th November 2006.
I will then put a posting with the names of those who want tyres and their respective quantities
I will then contact the importer and arrange a quotation for these tyres. Once a final cost is agreed, you will be contacted to CONFIRM your requirements
Be warned, if you say you want tyres, you will be expected to pay the club UPFRONT before we place an order
Regards
Trevor
2 for me please
I have just sent an email to the tyre distributer asking for them to firm up the costs for the tyres. I have done this because I have been informed by the manufacturers that they are now in stock in their warehouse. Just a shame that that is in Tennessee!!
Once I have got the firm costs back, I will contact all those who have requested tyres to confirm the quantities that you want and get cheques for the cost of your orders
Delivery details will be advised at a later date
If anyone else wants tyres in this first order, please contact me asap on my mobile number or by email
Cheers
Trevor
Trev,
Thanks for organising this.
Sounds like a complete pain.

Trevor
Trev,
Confirmed 4 for me.
Thanks
Ben
2 definately for me thanks
8 for me please
Trev:
I re-confirm an order for 4 tyres. This repeats a message some way back, so don't double count.
BR, Martin H
Trev:
If it helps reduce costs by dealing direct, if you can order direct from the company in Tennessee, I can arrange the shipping to UK. We can also arrange payment transfer very easily.
We consolidate through a freight co. in New Jersey every 4 weeks or so. Freight and duty usually work out at around 12% on the goods cost, delivered Birmingham. Truck freight from Tennessee to NJ would be extra, but it's quite common for suppliers to pay that part if you twist their arms, because it's quite slow - 10 days would be average. Duty rates vary by product, 6% is the common.
Let me know if this might be helpful. Martin H
Martin,
Unfortunately not, their deal with the suppliers in the UK is exclusive and you have to go through them. That was the first question I asked back in February this year!!! Good idea though, thanks
Trevor
Confirm 12
4 for me please!
4 for me definite (I cannot remember what I said but if you need me to take a few more let me know)
I will be talking to the tyre company this week so that we can order some stock.
Unless you have emailed me, posted here or texted me with your requirements you will not be included in this first batch
So, if you want Firestones, contact me before the evening of Wednesday 17th January 2007.
I will also be looking for a deposit from all those who have expressed a need for tyres
Cheers
Trevor
To those who have not yet sent cheques
The remainder of the invoices will be sent out this weekend
If you have not already done so please send your cheques payable to 2CV Racing Club to me
Thanks
Trevor
Hopefully the final batch of 50 tyres will be arriving in the UK in the next couple of weeks.
So far 25 have been pre-orderd.
So, if you need tyres for Brands please contact me in the next couple of weeks and I will arrange.
After these 50 are gone, we will more than likely NOT be making another bulk order, so the price of any future tyres will increase.
Also, once the importer has sold out, it will take anything up to TWO months to get further stocks into the country
So if you need tyres for the 24 Hour race, ACT NOW!!!! and contact me with your requirements
Trevor
Trev, I was speaking to Graham Harper about tyres this week. Do the club have some for sale at the moment? He's going to have a look and see if he needs any.
All
The remaining 35 tyres have now come into the country
There are 9 left after pre-orders have been accounted for. After that you will have to deal with the wholesalers yourselves and pay their going rate for the tyres
So if you want any of the nine, it is on a first come, first serverd basis
Cheers
Trevor
