Title: Looking for car history
Post by: Marc Fenner on January 16, 2007, 18:28:22
Hi Guys

I am currently looking for history and pictures of our race car. Car 70
I am waiting on more information but at the moment  all i know at the moment is that the car was blue with yellow wings when we brough it. It had been raced for many years before and was once a competative car. At one point in its life it was meant to have been painted 'Dankar' Damen Hills colour for charity. This may ring some bells with people.
The race number has changed from owner to owner.
If you have any info i would really appriechate it.

Cheers

Marc

Title: Danka Car
Post by: pat collier on January 18, 2007, 18:20:13
This car was owned by Tom Commander who used to race supersports with me ..... It was maintained and raced except for the 24 hour by Phil  Lane

the car did quite well but never a top runner.

I think that Damon Hill did drive the car once before Mondello, when he was at arrows hence the colour etc,  about 8 years ago but was not allowed to race in the end due to Insurance. The drive was the week before Mondello when he was living in Dublin....

Found out some more info.

Turns out Daly Thompson the decathlete has raced the car.
Also found out it used to be red/blue and white car number 11.
Ring and bells?

Finding out alot from Phil.

If anyone can help this folder will be going to all meeting. Its part of 2cv racing history.

it appear in autosport in the Danka Arrows F1 colours with the great caption of 'It might not be as quick as Damon's, but at least it finished' in reference to Damon Hill's poor reliably. I'll scan it and send it to you. How's the prep going, almost ready to run?  cheers Richard

The pics i have so far are great and the history of the car is building up slowly.
Looking forward to seeing this article from Richard.

Marc
I was given a very large and heavy box from Paul Taylor at the dinner dance. This, I believe contains a near complete history of the club.
At some point I have to give this to Pete Sparrow, but haven't got round to it just yet.
Cheers
