Looks like we're only qualifying and racing on the Sunday.
Why do the 2cv's get 15 min races while the other car classes get 20 mins? Is it a cost thing?
Yes Neal ,personally I think it's a turn for the worse but then I'm not paying the entry fee. Hopefully it will be up for discussion at the AGM.
Let's hope it's not the same as Brands where we can't setup because Saturday's races haven't left.
Just realised we are racing on the GP circuit this time, not the National circuit, so remember to go left at the chicane and not right! ;D
Not a fan of the split single qualifying session for the two driver car teams. I would guess that the first driver will get only 2 full laps and the second driver will get 3 because of the length of circuit. I hope we go back to the format from previous years.
I agree I feel like you don't get enough time to get a proper lap in. Hopefully we will move back to the 2 qualifying sessions.
If you don't like the current format, please come to the AGM and make your voice heard. The board can only make decisions based on the opinions that reach us.
Since as it stands the AGM will be able to be held in person this year, please do come and let us know how you'd like the races to be run.
When is the agm?
Hi:
Responding to some of the questions raised. I am only the message boy as this seasons' racing is covered by the agreement the Club made with BARC at the beginning of the season.
- Our 15 minute races are down to cost. The track is charged out per minute and this keeps entry cost down. For 2022, longer races may be possible, but at a higher seasons cost.
- The single split 20 minute qualifying session is also a way to keep entry costs down. Agreed that it is not a great idea on longer circuits.
- We can guess that Sunday racers will not be admitted until some of the Saturday-only racers have left. The paddock at Dony is huge, so maybe there is flexibility there.
Negotiations with BARC for 2022 are active just now. There appears to be strong demand for race track time and possibly fewer meetings planned, so there is not as much choice as we would wish. Provisional calendar will be available before the AGM.
The race entry price is set based on two key factors. What BARC need to charge per minute, and how many cars we have on our grids. Our race cost is the same right up to the grid max. If we could have just a few more cars at each race that helps us have longer races or keep costs level.
So for the Mini Se7en's who have a 20 min quali and 2x20 min races it should be more expensive...

Not if they have more entries than us. If they had double the entries they could be nearly half the price.
We bought 50 minutes tracktime this year, they have bought an hour. This time includes qually and green flag laps.
The cost to competitor is estimated on how many entries the club believes it will get, say 20. If it gets more for each round it could in theory split those fees between all of the entries. It used to do similar with its loyalty scheme.
That's the drawback of having a shared/ single driver option. Any increase in entry fees is presumably shared whilst the single driver has to find the lot which is surely a drawback to attracting more cars on the grid. Perhaps a modest single driver discount is a possibility?

What time are we allowed to enter the circuit on Saturday ?
Given we are using the paddock space that needs to be vacated by the sports prototype championship, and their last race won't finish until 4.45pm at the earliest, I imagine we will not be given access until at least 30 mins after that, but if it's anything like Brands Hatch it will probably be a bit of a mess!
