Thanks to all those who have booked in after the weekend.

I am treating the numbers as final now so the hotel can press on with arrangements.

General Discussion / Re: World Mental Health Day

Dear Pete,

I'm so sorry. Whilst words matter, I'm conscious that there is little that I can say either. I hope tomorrow goes as well as these things ever can. I shall keep you all in my thoughts.

Thank you to all of those who have booked/given me menu choices/paid so far.

Just another reminder - applications/payments due by THIS FRIDAY.

After that, I'll do my best but no guarantees I'm afraid.

Hope to see you there. 😊

Just a gentle reminder all 😊

The link should be fixed. The audience is now anyone with the link, rather than restricted in any way. Sorry folks. Let me know if there is still an issue 😊

Thanks Matt. It obviously opened for me....  Sorry to anyone who was super efficient and wanted to fill it in!

I've edited the post above with what I hope is the right one.

So, now the 24 hour is over, it's time to think about the Dinner Dance (well, and Oulton with the grand stand finish we now have set up....).

Thanks for trying Frieda. I guess they consider they have a captive audience.

Events (Non-Racing) / Re: DINNER DANCE 2025
January 12, 2025, 12:57:16
So, next (this) year's dinner is confirmed for 8 November 2025.

Some attempts were made to canvass alternative venues but the search came to little really.

So, 8 November it is at Westmead.

Events (Non-Racing) / DINNER DANCE 2025
December 10, 2024, 21:31:35
So, (very) advanced notice!

The dinner dance is planned to be at Westmead once again next year. They did a great job this year. I think many people shared my view that, with a smaller choice of food, the quality increased significantly. However, the only available date is 8th November.

I realise this is a week earlier and clashes with the Race of Remembrance which will cause issues for a few of you but the only other available dates were Fridays which is no use for us.

The date is provisionally booked. Any comments, views, complaints, please post them here asap for consideration.

I want to confirm the booking prior to Christmas please.

Thanks all.

General Discussion / Re: Drivers Rep
November 26, 2024, 21:00:48
That is, of course, right. They cannot attend the CoC.

However, there is a conversation to be had as what we are asking the Rep to do.

For example, it has been a perpetual moan that our races are shortened, in the view of some, unfairly. Is this an opportunity to improve BARC/2CV relations?

Obviously, the role must include passing on of  messages about timing changes, rounding up recalcitrant drivers (not that we have any....), checking the online notice board etc.

It might also include liaising if anyone does get themselves into hot water and, particularly given the Blue Book is soon to be the NCRs, having a decent knowledge of the contents.

Maybe one or more people? Maybe a driver assisted by a non-driver? Maybe a WhatsApp group to improve communication in terms of content and efficiency?

I have to say Bully, I think it is a bit more than a minor role in some clubs. It's a question of what we want I guess.

Thanks to all who have booked. Most, but not all, of the familiar faces are coming. I will be sending final numbers to the hotel on Monday.  If there are any late-comers, I can pop you onto the list until then. After that, I can't promise to help.

Your final friendly reminder folks....

Thanks for all those who have booked (generally and recently).

I do need to put the final numbers together for the hotel though.

So:

DEADLINE FOR BOOKING IS THIS FRIDAY.
