24h-Race / Re: Radio Fine Print again at the 24hr

Talking of car - pit communications;

which would add another £1000 or so to the cost of doing the race.

Just to say that I use communication systems on my bike and the price you are looking at is not £1000. A good bike system from one of the big brands (which can also feature inputs for GPS, phone, radios, MP3, pillion passenger and noise cancellation) will cost substantially less. Even after buying a radio the bill can be less than £200 for a new system. Shop around and buy 2nd hand lowers brands and you could come away with a right bargain! Checking e-bay right now I found a full working set up for £90!

Looks like we could have our own little "uni novice" category next year.....

In my internet searching for a car for next year I have stumbled across this;

Says that they are all without engines and gearboxes, but that he can get hold of them "quite cheap"

Isn't this the one raced by Thames Gateway College this year?

Hi. We're based in Edinburgh. Any help that you could give us would be great. Perhaps we'll need to have our own Scottish race.

Now just to track down a car!

For sale / wanted / Car Wanted For 2010 Season
July 25, 2009, 01:47:57
Hi there.

Me and my team are looking to pick up a car for the 2010 season. We are a bunch of Uni students, and are currently complete beginners (though we are in the process of changing that; ARDS coming up shortly!).

Ideally we'd like to get the car by the end of the year so that we can familiarise ourselves with it and get plenty of practice in it. Although our goal is the 24 hour event we'll also be looking to do as many races as possible (being in Scotland does mean it will be quite a trip to get to them)

If you, or any one you know, is planning on selling at the end of the season we'd be glad to hear from you. We would prefer a pretty much race ready car, but if need be we are prepared to take on a project just so long as it's not too big!

Thanks

Callum
