Races (not 24 hr) / Thank you
May 22, 2023, 00:26:15
I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who helped get my car repaired in time for the enduro race. Parts and people arrived from nowhere to help. At one stage I counted 8 people helping fix my car. Also I really appreciated the offers of cups of tea and wise words from those who have been in a similar position to me, especially when I doubting whether I would even get back in the car ever again. It wasn't the best weekend driving wise for me but it was the best weekend for being in this club for camaraderie. Here's to the next race - fingers crossed less drama for me.

How does one become entered into the seniors? Or am I too young?

Thanks Matt, I had so much support from so many people to help me get the car on track.
Nice that this ex Jon Davies car retained its number 47

I'll do some sort of write up for the mag.

See you next season, in club class

Also apologies in advance for getting in anyone's way. It's my first  race since 2006 and I appear to be the only one in  classique class, so won't be going as quick as the rest of you.

General Discussion / Economy class build
November 25, 2019, 16:19:08
So am now pushing ahead with building my economy class car, now that the DVLA have given me my licence back.

Was wondering if anyone can help with a few bits.

I'm looking for a standard engine. Not modified. Complete engine needed. Running would be a bonus.

A club race fuel filler neck ... does Wayne supply these? Is he on here?

I'm after Simon Turners details too, as need 4 x quick release exhaust clamps too.

Anything that anyone else has got going spare let me know.

Thanks Rich

All

I am unfortunately writing this having been very unwell for the last month.
I started getting unwell at the start of October with flu like symptoms which then developed. A week later I passed out whilst coughing and face planted the floor. I had mild cuts to my head etc which has healed ok. So after trips to A&E, Ambulances and numerous hospital and doctors visits I have been diagnosed with post viral bronchitis with cough syncope. I have blacked out now approximately 16 times in two weeks. I'm still passing out even today. Apparently it's not dangerous and I come round in seconds and it only happens when I have a coughing fit. They have put me on steroids in the hope that it cures the bronchitis.
The Doctor yesterday said that cough syncope is a DVLA notifying illness and that in his opinion it's a 12 month driving ban. However the advice on the website is a little vague, so I am writing to the DVLA to see what they say.
Unfortunately this will probably mean that I won't be able to finish building the race car, nor be able to drive in next years season.
I won't be able to attend the dinner dance either. I had booked and paid for a room at the hotel which was non refundable. If you can sell it on for any money, I'd be grateful.
I am absolutely devastated by this news as you can imagine.
Please extend my apologies to everyone.
Kind regards
Richard
