As example of what could be.

We are already racing in a combined Hibrid/C1 cup. Great fun!
Last races were 2x 45 minute. A good base we can do too.

That's fantastic!
Im curious what you think about my creation.
You can select the UK version in the menu. Just go to citroen and pick the race version, press on the tool icon to select the UK club 2CV.
If you setup an online race the admin can choose the options. Maybe its better to use fixed settings to keep it simple.

Hi All,

I have a Christmas present for you to keep you busy in these nasty times of being forced to stay at home.
Lets race online with our beloved 2CV UK Club racecars!

I have made a sim version of the 2CV in Club spec. I trimmed the engine and driving characteristics to make it as real as possible. I checked the lap times on a few circuits and compared it with onboard video's to perfectionize it.

All you need is Assetto Corsa and a PC and you can have fun during the lockdown! When someone sets up a server for assetto corsa we can even organize races online.

Download and extract the files below and put them in the cars and track folders (Steam\steamapps\common\assettocorsa\content\.... )

https://store.steampowered.com/app/244210/Assetto_Corsa/    (80% discount at the moment! )

Lets bring this back in these times of sitting home and waiting till the racing can start again.

Is it possible to pick this up and convert it to be usable in rFactor 2? rFactor 2 is fantastic. I am having great fun racing it, especially with the handling of older cars.
Would be fantastic if we can drive the club cars again in rFactor 2.

@gasklep
Thanks for your words ! It' so really true !!
Especially when you mention about Pouhon and starting grid ;)  Feel like I'm living this race again :-D

What car did you drive this year??

I wonder what kind of tire pressures do you guys run them in the UK classic class?
You use a lot less steering input compared to us in the EU classic class based on what I see on onboard movies. Maybe higher tire pressures?

Technical / Re: gearbox oil

I'm interested too.
We drive a EU Classic. We used a Dutch brand Kroon as gearbox oil but after a few races it came out white and full of bubbles. The car is stored in a dry building so this amount of condens should not me possible so how on earth......
Before Snetterton we changed to an other brand http://news.mpmoil.nl/?id=mineral-transmission-oil-for-classic-cars MPM oil. The first tests showed a lower gearbox temperature (70 degrees C on top of the gearbox measured with a infrared sensor) but when we checked it after the race it came out black. So before Spa we changed again, this time back to Kroon but now a synthetic oil with the right stamps on it. But also this oil came out black after the race...

We always ran API GL4 type of gearbox oil and always flushed it when we changed to an other type of oil.
this time a sample is going to be investigated. I hope it is going to tell us why it is getting this black....
The gearbox is not giving problems at the moment but we dont want surprises during a race. It just has to be good..

The two middle bottles are from the gearbox. The small one is new oil, the big one is used for the Spa 24h.

Do you guys change oil after each race??

I drove the Yellow Dyane 123 classic and I have to say the C1's drove better than the Funcup and C1's from last years.
The code 60 complains are true. No idea why they did not got penalized. At a certain point in the race I tried to follow them during code 60 but with 2 minutes to go (till a 7minutes laptime) I had already sight on the finish line. I backed of a lot and crossed the line at 7:01. By that time the others were around the corner at la source!
Driving a Classic at Spa has always been strange. You have to defend your line at all time. If you leave a gap of 1 meter, up to 5 cars are willing to fill it up! My style is to make sure what my line is going to be through the corner way before I am going to enter it. I make a estimation of were everybody is going to be when we enter the corner and based on that I choose my line way before the corner. Most other driver understand why, and what I do and understand my intentions before we enter the corner. Sometimes I keep more to the right, sometimes more to the left and sometimes they are a bit to far back and I drive my own line and they maybe have to alter their line to mine. Most times I get thumbs up after a corner so I guess I do the right thing.
We have a very big mirror in our car (from side to side, no kidding) and it is perfect for such a slow class ;)
Basically we had a great race (we won the Classic class). I had lots of fun in the rain and slippery conditions. So much joy to place your Classic at the end of Pouhon next to some hybrid just because you had a way faster corner entry!

I had very big concerns about the number of cars but it turned out quite wel. But I have to say i'm very glad we were able to start from the grid. I felt bad for the ones who had to start from the pit.....

The large pipe that vents into the second choke,we used to remove it and fill in the hole .

And run without air vent? Can you remove it without side effects? Or do you have to make a alternative vent?

Anyone?

Ok, after some testing I came to the following conclusion: It works! Finally I can fly over roundabouts for ten laps without starvation! Also long highway corners to the other direction are no problem anymore. Ok, some people did not liked my exercise but anyhow, it worked.  ;D
The float level is at 15mm now but I think it is a bit too high. When I drive a longer period the AF gets richer and richer. Maybe when I set it at 16mm it will be gone, have to test this yet...

We also found a 18-26 carb with the smaller fuel passage so its not only the 21-24 carb you can use. Some 18-26 carbs will do also. Still I prefer the 21-24 because of the way it controls the AF. A 18-26 carb has a lean spot at max torque, a 21-24 has way more steady AF valleus over the rev range.

oh, and I have 1 big tip for everyone: Pull the overflow pipe out of the carb and put a longer 9mm copper pipe in place. It will prevent you from overflowing and saves you a lot of trouble ;)

Hi all,
I can confirm that the "carb to have" is a 21-24. That one has the small passthrough. The 18-26 has the bigger passthrough. And that is exactly how the carbs react to leaning over. The 18-26 drops down in power dramatically! The 21-24 does this less.

In the last picture you can see the area at the right top what has to be filled with a piece of rubber hose.

Great, now we are getting somewhere!

Thanks for the tips!
I will definitely look what carb we have. So the one with smaller and higher passage is the one to have?

I was thinking about something else. If I would use 3 gaskets between the lower half and upper half of the carb. The whole fuel level will come up without changing the float. I am at 15mm now and it is not enough. Raising it more can cause closing problems. With extra gaskets I dont take that risk and still have more fuel in the carb.

Tilting the complete engine? haha, good idea!
I suppose that spacer must be about 1 cm or so?

Technical / Lean in long corners.
August 04, 2016, 21:40:45
Hi all,
Small introduction: I am part of a race team from the Netherland and we are racing at the Spa 24h race, classic class.

The car runs great but we are suffering carb problem in the long right corners. It seems the carb is running dry. AF meter is showing very lean, engine power is gone at that moment and only giving half throttle solves the lean mixture. After a few seconds after the corner the power comes back, and the AF meter is showing good numbers again.
Last year the car was the fastest Classic on the straights so the engine itself is very healthy.

Engine specs:
rebuild AM2 2CV6
stock compression
stock cam (new)
stock 26-18 carb with tuned jets
stock exhaust

Things I tried:
Making the carb level higher, there is a small positive effect but its far from gone. I am at 15mm now.
Checked the carb floating leveler (no idea how to call it) with a cut open carb to see if it moves freely and it does.
To make sure the carb does not overflow I put a hose on the overflow tube, led it to a can and found noting in the can after a few fast roundabouts with dropping power.
Filled up the tank to max to be sure the problem is not caused by starvation.

Anyone any tips for us??
