I kind of got the same setup in my road 2cv. 9:1 compression and camshaft done by Kent Cams to be almost identical to the Club one.

I recently installed a 21/24 carb as well (came from a Dyane) after getting this tip from the Dutch racing team. I currently have 120 primary and 120 secondary jet and thought this may well be a little too much. But reading Paul's reply i understand we can go even bigger with the jets.

Do you also use an open airfilter (instead of the stock one?). I do, and that means a lot more air can be sucked through.

Technical / Re: "knocking" sound in new engine?
February 20, 2009, 15:50:13
I did use "new type" bolts, with round heads and a hexagonal hole in it (imbus). So far i've driven 135 kilometer without the flywheel coming loose again (no knocking sound for sure).

It was the flywheel that had come loose. the new flywheel bolts seemed to have gotten loose. We tightened them again with great care and the sound had gone. Tomorrow i will finish putting all things together and make the first official test drive!!! Very Happy Thanks for your support on this!

Technical / Re: Piston to head (not valves) contact

I hear loose rocker arms (those lower bolts being loose) could also be the cause of this problem. Will check tomorrow.

I'm also hearing a strange clacking noise with my newly rebuilt engine with a cam shaft similar to the club one, and 9.0:1 barrels and pistons. Could you confirm the sound after watching the short video i made?

Technical / "knocking" sound in new engine?
February 08, 2009, 15:54:36
After months of work on the engine, we installed it again and finally could start it for the first time. HAppy as we were, all went well with no leaks and the engine seemed to run very smoothly. Valves were properly set, as well as the 123 Ignition.

Specs:
an original 602 engine block, a race ground cam shaft from Kent Cams, 9.0:1 pistons and barrels and original cilinder heads. Original flywheel with new flywheel bolts, brand new clutch.

We let the engine run approx. 2000-2500 rpm for about 20 minutes and it never gave any strange sounds and did not hold in.  We dropped it to stationary and it purred like a kitten. Then we turned it off and started again a few times (started immediately every time).
And now, the engine makes a knocking or rambling sound which requency increases with the revs.
I've checked the valve clearances again and re-set them with a barely warm engine. After this, the sound had not gotten less, i would even say it got louder.

I made some video's and i would very much appreciate if you guys could tell me what you think this is!

Technical / twin carb setup?
February 03, 2009, 14:08:23
As Trevor mentioned in another topic, there should be some people on this forum that experimented with installing a twin carb setup in a 2cv.
I am very eager to learn more about the installation and technical aspects of this setup. Can anyone provide some more info or perhaps a forum topic/website where such a setup is explained?

Thanks!

Technical / Re: Engine break-in tips?

Thanks Paul. It's just hard to know what is the best way to break in the engine, since everyone seems to have his own theories and ideas.

Technical / Engine break-in tips?
January 29, 2009, 18:09:14
I am currently assembling my stock 602 engine with:

9.0:1 barrels and pistons (Perfect Circle)
a freshly ground cam shaft from Kent Cams (not exactly like the club cam, but a nice fast road profile)
cleaned up valves
thoroughly cleaned engine block
All new seals allround

Could you give me a few pointers for breaking in this new slightly modified engine? It will be driven on the road, not on the track. So i do need to keep it going for a longer period :)

Cheers!

As i will order the barrels and pistons from ECAS and my cam shaft is curently being ground by Kent Cams, this topic can be closed. I'll definately get back with some more performance questions later on. Thanks so much for the replies so far.

Cheers!

I'll definately ask around when i am ready to go that way :) For now, waiting for Kent to return the camshaft and ECAS for the 9.0.1 barrels and pistons :)

Thanks for the help so far lads. I have sent the camshaft to Kent Cams last week, where they will grind it to a nice fast profile. I am also ordering the Perfect Circle 9.0.1 barrels and pistons from ECAS (if they let me pay by bank transfer...).

Should be a nice first step :) Up next... Twin carbs?  ::)

General Discussion / Re: Spa 2008

I was there to spectate and be part of the traditional lap before the race starts. I had a great time, and it was awesome to walk through the paddocks and see what you guys go through during a race. It certainly made me want to modify my car and maybe even end up racing some day!

Kent responded that they could make a nice mild or fast road profile. I am tempted to choose the last one of course :) They are aware that it is for a normal road car, not a special racing one.

610cc? You mean the "Big Bore" ones?
And thanks for the bit on the argentinian ones.
