Hi folks

After a (too) long absence, it was really lovely to be welcomed back into your hallowed paddock and garages for the 2023 race. It was lovely to see everyone again and I promise not to be a stranger next season.

In the absence of a dedicated photo website I've been uploading pictures publicly to my Facebook page.  Please feel free to look through them and I hope that you find some that interest you and are acceptable to you:

Hi folks

Just to let you know that I have uploaded my photographs from the 24 Hour 2CV race onto Flickr.  Featuring 2CVs, European cars, C1s, Minis and a couple of rogue Renault Clios.  Also features a bit of the scenery around the circuit.

Hi folks

I've been rather out of practice this season so I'm afraid these photos are nowhere near as good as anything that Maria and Adam Lines have supplied.  However, here is my view of the 24 Hour 2CV Race.  Many thanks to Race Control for letting me invade the debriefings and their offices, thanks to all of the marshals who stood out on post during appalling conditions - mega thumbs-up to those of you who were marooned in the centre of the circuit for the entire race, thanks to all of the drivers, mechanics, caterers, team members, supporters, spectators, Anglesey Circuit and everybody else I've missed.

I've said it before and this time I mean it: next year, I will have a motorhome, a caravan or a waterproof tent with a sewn-in groundsheet!  I will also have a snorkel and flippers.

If anybody does want to order any photographs then contact me via Flickr, this forum or Facebook.

24h-Race / Eating on Anglesey
July 30, 2015, 17:19:19
Hi folks

I was back on Anglesey 2 weeks ago to make sure my darling island is ready for us by testing ice creams, beaches etc...😀

Anyway, I provided a list of feeding places within 5 miles of the circuit last year (I can't link to the post from this phone). My cousin, who lives in Valley, has sent me this information.

"Hi, as promised  here is brief list of ammenities working back from Ty Croes where track is to villages/holyhead. Track has bar/cafe called Pitstop reasonable and nice. Next village is Llanfaelog with just sml village shop papers milk snacks, you can turn off into Rhosneigr - Bee Bees cafe, Sandys bistro, ball high fish/chips, mojos bakery, Spar type shop and nice but expensive The Oyster Catcher bar/rest set up by Timpsons its a chef academy good reputation tho. RAF VALLEY - Rozi indian nice but i asked to make sure cook gethin seperate cos peanuts he took 1 bite and had reaction! Valley- valley+bull both good food, Agra indian and Sukothai are delicis, chinese bit dodgy, cafe called Relish then Spar with Subway and Post office is store. Trearddur Bay has the  hotel, seacroft and driftwood - nice but expensive gastro pubs/restr. Holyhead has 1 street with few takeaways almost centre town with Pizza Gondola, kebabs, indian+chinese called manderin kitchen they too own manderin royale lovely rest on bottom road to newry. Prices chippy by cinema, Craig chippy Eastend Kebab and Taste of india by station. Tnere is also Marstons pub Standing stones by retail park nice deals bit slow service. KFC, Mcd and Tesco huge store and cafe and Morrisons same also on retail park. I am.not sure on delivery, i have Agra+thai menus bur cant scan them."

Additional info from me:

Enoch's Fish & Chips has (finally) opened in Valley on the A5. I tried it 2 weeks ago. It is cheap, cooked to order and yummy. Parking is a nightmare and I did find their food a tad too greasy. I also tried the Steak Night at The Bull in Valley (Friday only) and it was terrific!

If you want scenic places (free of charge) to eat your takeaways, South Stack, Penrhos Nature Park, Porthdarfach Beach and Cable Bay are all easy to park and offer gorgeous views.

Let me know if you have any questions.

24h-Race / Suzanne's 24 Hour 2CV photographs
September 03, 2014, 20:17:26
Hi folks

Here's the link to my photographs from this year's race.

https://www.flickr.com/photos/rocky-road/sets/72157647139208126/

Also included in the set are: the track parade, Blackbeard's Tea Party and my whizz up to Holyhead Mountain to coo over the gorse and heather out together (something I've never seen before and Ma had only seen it once in her life before Sunday - and she lived next to the mountain for many years!).

If anybody wants to buy any of the unwatermarked hi-res pictures, please email me via this forum or [email protected] - the fee is only £4 per picture.  I'm currently unemployed which is why I am reluctantly charging this year; I do feel bad about it but I have to be realistic.

Hi folks

I know that some of you will be arriving before Thursday lunchtime and leaving after Monday lunchtime and may be needing somewhere to stay or to eat.  Here are some recommendations based on my knowledge of the area and with a huge amount of help from my cousin Alix who lives in Valley.

If you do need accommodation for the Wednesday/Thursday or Monday then do book it as soon as possible as it will fill up.

ACCOMMODATION
My best recommendation is The Valley Hotel in Valley.  http://www.valley-hotel-anglesey.co.uk/  This is where we are expecting to stay on Thursday and Monday nights.  It is a nice hotel and I've used it many times in the past.  There is car parking too.  It is right on the Valley crossroads so it's incredibly easy to find.

If The Valley is full, then there is The Anchorage in Four Mile Bridge (a bit further afield): http://trearddurbay.com/the-anchorage-hotel/  My aunt and both my cousins on Anglesey used to work there so they recommend it above the others.  It is further to drive and it is more expensive than The Valley.  It does have car parking and an annex.  Having said that, it is incredibly comfy.

The Bull Hotel in Valley doesn't have a website but its address is London Rd, Valley, Holyhead, Gwynedd LL65 3DP
01407 740351.  I've not been in there for years – even for a drink – so I can't comment on it.

There is a Premier Inn now in Holyhead.  It does not serve food but McDonalds is next door.

FOOD

There is a Fish and Chip shop in Rhosneigr.
The following take-aways are available in Valley: Thai, Indian and Chinese.  The Thai restaurant does not do outside delivery but my cousin is going to speak to the other 2 places.
There is also a Subway in Valley now with pretty good opening hours.

There is an Indian Restaurant/take-away in RAF Valley itself.

If you want something really nice but not overpriced then my cousin Alix recommends The Beach Hut at Newry in Holyhead.  Apparently the breakfast there is incredibly good but not expensive; she went there this morning and says that it is regularly used by Holyhead locals as well.

Alix is going to get me the menus of all of the takeaways/restaurants mentioned above and either scan & email them to me or post them to me so I can scan them and put them on here for you.

Hi folks

It was lovely to see so many of you during the last 2 days at Silverstone; sorry the weather forecast was as inaccurate as possible when it came to temperature predictions!

Anyway, self-promotion time: pictures can be found at http://www.flickr.com/photos/rocky-road/sets/72157634008840603/ and I can be contacted via here, via email or via Facebook (Suzanne Peedell - picture is of a load of 2CVs).

24h-Race / Photographs from the 2012 24 Hour 2CV race
September 01, 2012, 19:27:51
Hi folks

I trust you have all recovered from Snetterton last weekend (guilty confession: we only decided to tidy the camping stuff up this afternoon).  Anyway, it's time for my usual blatant self-promotion: here are my photographs from the weekend:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/rocky-road/sets/72157631291381176/detail/

I would like to say thanks to you all for being so nice to me when I appeared in your garages waving a lens at you and asking questions.  Also special thanks to Martin Harrold and Nick Roads for helping organise the "tracking session" on Friday afternoon.  Thanks are due to Martin Sadler for kindly driving me around for the tracking session and a huge thank you to all of the drivers who participated; I hope you like the outcome.  I would love to do it again one day with a) more 2CVs and b) a much better sky!

I'm sure I've missed people out so it's going to have to now be a generic THANK YOU to everybody involved in the event and bring on the 2013 season. ;D

P.S: Just to say that I've experimented with a few "tilt-shift" pictures too which I hope you will like.

24h-Race / More photographs from Snetterton
August 30, 2011, 21:50:21
Hi folks

I know it's a bit cheeky of me to use my first ever post on this forum for blatant bragging but I have a lot of photos for you all.  Some of you may have seen me charging in and out of your garages or dangling from the gantry in order to try and get some decent shots over the weekend.

I hope you like my collection:  http://www.flickr.com/photos/rocky-road/sets/72157627429839637/

Best regards

Suzanne
