As the forum settles down for it's winter snooze I thought I would post a couple of pictures of my road / development car.
As most will know I started playing with a Audi gearbox in the search for more useable gears when using a BMW engine. At 70 MPH even with a high diff in a 2CV box the engine is revving to hard to hard for long leg mileage in wear and economy.
The problem with a Audi box is it has to go over the the steering rack cross member which leaves you with driveshafts at a steep angle reasonable on a race car with low ground clearance but not good on a road car.
The voices spoke to me and said do away with the tube and front arms to resolve the drive shaft problem and do away with outboard brake problem. out board brakes in a road height car don't work, when you put the brakes on the front rises alarmingly again to do with the difference between road car height.

I know it's not 2CV wrong blah blah but the voices .......   

Motor Sport is a must buy this month - a good article featuring 602's comapred against C1's etc.

Good to see Simon Turner and Tete rouge flying the flag.

I think some words of thanks are due to the board for their efforts in running and promoting the club.

This years meeting was a pleasure to attend and hear clear summaries of where the club is and where it's going, a lot of work going on behind the scene,s to achieve a good result.

As ex footballer George Weah has been sworn in as President of Liberia do members think it would be of advantage to the club to lobby for Carl Fogarty to be made Prime minister ? I feel his capture of the vernacular and assertive way would help our current politicians focus.

It might be interesting to hear peoples views on the impact of the C1's that were racing at the Spa event ?

Personally I think the impact of off the shelf cars versus cars that require effort to build and run was negative too many people been watching touring cars on the telly and think that's the way to race.

I am looking for 1 driver to be part of a team of 3 to compete in 2 x 6 hour races at Croix en Ternois , France ( 50 miles from Calais ) on 20/21 May

There are 2 x 6 hour races, we will be using my 2CV / BMW hybrid.

The opportunity includes a ride there and back and a opportunity to participate in a track day at Snetterton on 21st March for genuine enquiry's

I'm looking for 1 or 2 drivers with "A" licence to share my newly completed BMW engined 2CV the car has been tested and performed well in the hands of a seasoned driver.

The races on offer are Trophee de Croix en Ternois on 20th & 21st May ( 2 x 6 hour races ) and or Trophee de Alsace ( 1 x 6 hour race )
The car will be available for testing at a track day at Snetterton in March or before by arrangement.

Strolling through Waitrose I spotted Evo magazine latest issue which had an article about 24 hour racing and the article is about this years Anglesey.

The preamble goes as follows :-

The diminutive Citroen C1 looks set to replace the ageing 2CV as the budget racer of choice. But first it has to prove itself, as does EVO's racing debutant Will Beaumont in the 24 hour event !!

I would buy the mag before the AGM it will probably sell quickly .................
