Apologies for not being a 2cv racer (I don't think there are any events in Scotland?)but I thought you folks may be able to help me get a 2CV on the road.
Up here in Scotland I recently bought a Citroen 2cv from a scrapyard, I wanted to save it.
The car is complete and running, not seriously rusty, it got to the scrapyard due to light damage to a front bumper, looks like it has been lying around somewhere a while (flat cracked spare tyre) it is a project worth saving. The car was sold to me as a complete parts car with no ID, no reg and no vin, I happily agreed to this as it is well worth saving. The yard told me it was a aug 1985 model and that was all they would say, I was ok with that as I just wanted to have my first 2cv.
I contacted dvla for advice but they are waiting on specialists to return to work as a new ID or VIN is not a standard request but they said it could be possible, they suggested kit car route could be an option or registering it as a new vehicle.
Ive now got a 2cv with no ID, I guess it can be anything from now on. I will also contact the 2cv owners club seeking the same advice or info.
I thought to contact this forum as someone may have a spare damaged shell with id I could use I am not trying to do anything dodgy, just looking for a way to get a registration for this car. It may be impossible and I may have to buy a kit body to go that route.
Any help or advice will be much appreciated
