General Discussion / Lien Kerry Davies
October 02, 2024, 15:20:14
It is with great sadness that I have to inform everyone that Lien passed away today 2nd October 2024 at approximately 2.45 this afternoon.
He had been taken into hospital last Thursday with a chest infection that on Sunday night developedinto sepsis.
Very sad day for Team Gadget Racing.
My thoughts are with his son Tom and his Dad Cliff.
A very special thanks goes to Caroline who looked after him for the last 14 months.
Very special thoughts go out to her and her daughter at this sad time.
I will let everyone know about funeral arrangements as  soon as I can.

General Discussion / Sad loss to Team Gadget Racing
November 22, 2022, 10:50:20
It is with great sadness that I have to let you all know that yesterday Mr Slav died.
Most people will remember him from race meetings and nights out with our crew.
He had worked for me for almost 17 years.

Such a hard worker and a genuinely nice man.
He will be missed at work and in the workshop and also at meetings and without doubt we will now struggle to find things!
He knew where everything was.
Sad day.

24h-Race / 24hours weekend
August 29, 2021, 21:20:19
Well done to all that entered the race regardless of where you finished.as some will know,I was unable to make it to the grid, but rest assured we will be there next year.
It was nice to see everyone again even though its hard to spend a lot of time meeting up. But good to catch up with some faces not seen for a while.
Hopefully next year ,covid permitting bbq's will be back on the agenda and we will be fighting at the business end.
Well done to Pete and  Martin for yet again fielding a winning car.
Perhaps the lesson to learn is to park the car up for 25 mins and let everyone have a rest!

General Discussion / The one litre racing club
March 17, 2021, 20:13:51
Happy new year to all members.
I see the Barc has another start up series they are promoting.
Can we assume that the Classic 2cv racing Club doesn't have another board member with a hidden agenda?

24h-Race / Covid restrictions
August 21, 2020, 21:31:45
Based on the latest announcements, does the club have any responsibility for the entrants on a duty of care basis?
With the latest it is unlikely that there will be any entries from Belgian or French teams.
But does the club have a  duty of care responsiblity  if any entrant or team member lives in a restricted area?
Are drivers responsible for their own actions with relation to this? Or is the club responsible?
If someone races  from a restricted area or from a locked down area, who is responsible?
If the club accepts the entry, knowing that the driver is in a restricted area, could the club become involved in a situation??

Races (not 24 hr) / Cadwell and Snetterton
May 26, 2020, 11:11:22
Hi everyone, hope you have all managed to stay safe and be Lerts to the best of your abilities!
Our new club spokesperson has sent me this morning the MSV event info for Cadwell so he's convinced that the event will be going ahead. That of course does ultimately depend on one or two bodies making statements.
Team Gadget Racing will not be attending Cadwell, Snetterton or any other events this year based on safety and health reasons primarily. We don't feel that after all the hard work done across the country, the sacrifices that have been made by many and the potential risks involved in a mass gathering that it is fair or responsible to attend either event when it could play a part in undoing what has so far been achieved.
We look forward to seeing you all again in 2021 with a grid full of shiney cars!
For those that are going to be racing at Cadwell and Snetterton, I hope you all enjoy yourselves, and be Lerts.

Events (Non-Racing) / raffle at the Dinner
November 15, 2019, 07:51:41
Hi everyone,
I am doing a raffle at the dinner tomorrow evening. If anyone has anything they would like to donate as a prize to make it more interesting,
please bring it along and come and see me.
The purpose of the raffle is to try to raise money for Addenbrooke's  Hospital.
As most will remember, at the 24Hours I went around with a headlight, this raised over £600. Hopefully I can get this to 1K.
So if you could all bring plenty of change with you, someone will be coming round to tables with tickets to try to take it from you!!
See you all there

Hi Members,

I would just like to announce the signing of George Russell to the Williams Formula One Team for 2019.

Some of you may have already seen something in the press about this, but there has only been minimum detail.

George lived local to me and enjoyed success in all levels of kart racing from a young age.
In 2014 he wanted to progress to single seater racing in the UK and also Europe, for which he needed an international licence.
I was approached by his Dad to see if we could run a car for him at Oulton Park early 2014 so that he could get 2 signatures on his licence. He done similar with several other race series to get the upgrade to international licence. That year he went on to win the Formula 4 series here and done well in formula Reanaltin Europe. He also won the McClaren Gold medal. He then raced European Formula 3 for the next 2 years finising 3rd in his first year.
"017 saw him win the GP3 Series with a meeting to spare after being signed up by Mercedes AMG on their formula one young driver program.
This year he has enjoyed continued success in GP2 which follows F1 around, getting several po;e positions and race wins. He now leads the Championship with 248 points with a lead of 37 points over Alex Albon with just one meeting to go at Abu Dhabi.

So a big Well Done to him and wishes of continued success from all at Team Gadget Racing.

It just goes to show that anything is possible and if you go through the TGR Academy who knows where you might end up??
So Lien, I've had a word with Toto and he 's come back with some very positive and promising words..............

And to quote, " I think Yorkshire needs a plumber"!
