General Discussion / Sporting Regulations
October 11, 2016, 17:17:18
I have been press ganged by Meyrick to chair this new committee,(his revenge for me telling him that it wouldn't take up much time!!)

The idea is that it will work alongside the technical committee but just deal with those topics that are sporting rather than technical. An instance of this could be the suggestion that we vary the points system. (Bernie has offered us all jobs if we can crack it!)

I am looking for volunteers.

We will probably meet no more than twice a year, so not too onerous.

24h-Race / FEEDBACK on Anglesey
September 02, 2014, 15:12:07
As this was our first time at Anglesey we would really like feedback from drivers, mechanics, wives cooks and bottlewashers.

I think this would be best done privately rather than via the forum as many may well want to express views that are perhaps too delicate for public consumption!! Hopefuly we can then use this to work with BARC and Trac Mon to make 2015 even better.

I have created an e mail account to which only Mervyn, Nick and I have access and will be kept confidential.

General Discussion / 24 hour Perpetual cup
October 16, 2013, 18:11:15
I attach the Report to the board prepared by Nick and I. After a long and painful meeting the conclusion was as follows:-

Board Meeting

The board considered the attached paper prepared by Aubrey Brocklebank and Nick Roads
After much discussion due to the potential conflict Mervyn left the room and the board spent a considerable time debating the issue and concluded that whatever decision was made there would be some members of the club who would be dissatisfied.
The board resolved that the club as a whole would be better off if it accepted the offer of the new cup with all the previous winners' names subject to confirmation from The Rent boys to Aubrey Brocklebank that they would pay for this.
It was further resolved that further public debate would serve no useful purpose and therefore this did not need to be approved by the membership in general meeting.

I can confirm that they have agreed to have 2 new larger plinths made for the new cup and have individual plates made up for all races and drivers since inception (ie 1990...I think)

Donnington has a last minute quiet test day on Monday  June 3rd with a 98dBA noise limit tested on a drive by monitor.
As a special offer to 2CV Racers, we would get 9am – 5pm testing (with 1 hours lunch break) at £295 including VAT and a garage.
If interested contact Dani Galpin, on 01332-819531, or on [email protected]

May 17, 2010, 11:05:10
What a fantastic meeting. I would just like to personally thank Martin for all his organising  Tony and  Keith for sponsorship, Paul for getting me and so many other cars and other old farts to turn out and Steve for lending me his beautiful car.(and anyone else who I have forgotten like)  How the first race was so well stage managed I dont know but a couple people have called me to tell me how brilliant it was.

Steve is obviously a lot smaller than me so I am doing a passable imnpression of Quasimodo today, but hey the doc says with another scotch ort two those damn bells will stop!

Thanks

General Discussion / Dinner Dance

DINNER DANCE
23rd January 2010
Ettington Chase, Stratford upon Avon

Thanks to the efforts of Viv Hill we have a possible new Venue this year which looks a very smart hotel www.ettingtonchasestratford.co.uk
However last year so few people turned up that we lost money as a club. We have changed the system so that the club will collect money for the dinner but you settle the hotel costs directly with them.
The all in cost will be of the order of £160 including the dinner with half a bottle of wine per person, disco, double room and breakfast.
Before we book it we need to know whether there is any real interest so could you:
REPLY to Aubrey-  [email protected] or text 07973-744828
1. Yes definitely
2. Interested but not sure

Announcements / 2CV Championship Tyres
June 03, 2009, 17:15:55
Competitors may be aware that our order for new Michelin tyres has been delayed yet again and we will not have tyres until September at the earliest. Firestones may be available but similar supply problems currently exist.

We have researched all possible alternatives and have come to the conclusion that the best solution is a 135x15, which as amongst other things requires no other modifications to the car to enable fitment.
Toyo can supply us with a 135 *15 tyre in almost unlimited quantities on three months notice. Whilst they are slightly smaller than the 145's and require approx 100rpm extra the 4 drivers that tested them at Cadwell Park were all surprised and impressed by their performance characteristics. Further testing is going to take place at Snetterton next week.

The even better news is that they should be available at approximately £25 each, this compares to approx £90 for the Michelins and Firestones.

As a result of this situation we feel that it is necessary to make changes to ensure a long term tyre supply for the Championship, to achieve a "level playing field" we are minded to make these the control tyre for the championship from next season onwards. [AFTER FEEDBACK FOR THE AVOIDANCE OF DOUBT THESE TYRES ARE LIKELY TO BE SLOWER THAN MICHELINS AND IT WOULD NOT BE FAIR FOR SOMEONE TO WIN THE CHAMPIONSHIP BY VIRTUE OF HAVING HOARDED A SET]

We hope that you can appreciate why we are looking at this change and welcome your comments to Aubrey in the first instance.

Clearly, after the 24 hour race all existing tyres will be redundant, as far as racing is concerned, however, many competitors are in desperate need of tyres for that race and will provide a ready market for any surplus tyres that you may have.

There is a section in the forum under the 24 hour topic set up to act as an exchange mechanism.

Announcements / 24 Hour Race
May 01, 2009, 12:44:42
Entry forms for the 24 hour race for 2009 are now available If anybody requires an entry form also please either contact Steve Panas or Paul Robertson.

The entry fee is £1790, which represents an increase of 1.7% over last year. The price includes garage use for the entire meeting and Friday test sessions. These are likely to run as they did last year with two in the morning and two in the afternoon. Day membership remains at £30 per driver for the meeting. Please note that this year and ongoing that this will be required to be paid with the entry before the meeting. Your drivers will know whether they are members or not.

After the success of the post race entertainment and food we will be repeating this with just a £1 donation to the marshalls' fund required.

Completed entry forms shopuld be submitted with a minimum deposit of £400 as soon as possible. The balance will be required no later than July 28th. All entries received before May 31st (Cadwell meeting) will be entered into the free fuel draw. This year the winner will receive a refund of their fuel cost for the race and two further lucky winners will receive two half price tickets to the dinner dance.

Any questions please ask directly  of Steve or Paul

General Discussion / Limited Company
September 18, 2008, 19:45:39
We are now the The Classic 2CV Racing Club Limited. We are a company limited by Guarantee which means that evryone who is a paid up member will be liable to pay £1 if, god forbid, we were to go bust. (less likely than HBOS!) This is better than the previous arrangement where we all had unlimited liability.

Chris will shortly put the new Memorandum and Articles of Association and Rules on the website. I have worked with your committee in particular Phil Myatt to whom many thanks are due for what was a lot of work. :P We have tried to track the existing constitution, however there are inevitably a few changes most of which have been driven by Company Law. Because changing the Articles which have to be registered at Companies House is a tortuous and expensive process we have tried to make these as flexible as possible.

If anyone has a problem may I suggest that you contact me or Phil first before starting a red herring debate!!!!!!!

If any technical changes need to be submitted to the Technical committee three months prior to AGM does it not follow that we need at laet five months notice of the AGM date?
