Events (Non-Racing) / Masters of Motoring Show
March 10, 2025, 20:16:40
Hi all,

We were invited at Race Retro to the Masters of Motoring show on 7th-8th June at Castle Combe and Bowood House (https://mastersofmotoring.com/)

I've had this from the organisers:

As one of the themes of how to get in and enjoy motorsport, I'd love to invite you to join us with some of your members to showcase the series and maybe take some time on track for demo's?

We have camping available at both venues (£10 pn) and you can join us for the evening BBQ/Pizza on the Saturday evening (£25pp) when cars are being dropped in place.

There is also hospitality on the Saturday (£35pp) and VIP (£65pp) on the Sunday that people can upgrade to if they want to make more of the weekend.  These are discounted rates not the live pricing.

Can you let me know your thoughts?  I have a press event we are working on at Castle Combe Circuit on the 10th April for a few hours in the morning to early afternoon with a slot on track to showcase what the weekend will be about so would be great to have one or two of you there or at least we can promote you attending?

============

So firstly, would anyone with a nice looking car(s) be available on 10th to attend the press event? And secondly be available in June (not as urgent to book yet). Please let me know ASAP if you can do April's date so I can get back to the organiser.

Cheers!

Races (not 24 hr) / VSCC Pomeroy Trophy 22nd Feb
February 06, 2025, 21:54:07
Possibly a long shot and not much notice, sorry, but we are invited to take part in the VSCC's Pomeroy Trophy on 22nd February:

QuoteEntries close for the VSCC Pomeroy Trophy on Sunday 9th February.

We would be grateful if you could remind your Members that as Members of an invited Club they are able to take part.

We have improved the entry from so it can now be filled in, saved and then returned to the VSCC.

The event remains open to any car, old or new. In an era where track time has become increasingly costly, the Pomeroy Trophy offers a unique opportunity. It's a chance to put your winter upgrades to the test, experience something different, and to enjoy a truly fun day out surrounded by an eclectic mix of cars and like-minded enthusiasts.

The Pomeroy Trophy is a truly unique competition, one of the few times you will witness pre-War cars competing against their modern counterparts in a single-day event. The objective is simple yet exhilarating; to determine the best touring car, with a series of challenges that test a car's performance and its driver's skill.

Throughout the day, competitors will engage in various tests, including a timed slalom, straight-line acceleration challenge, and a brake test, before culminating in the highlight of the event, a 40-minute-high speed session on the renowned Grand Prix circuit (using the Historic configuration) in the afternoon, divided into three speed-graded groups. This isn't a race but an exercise to complete a pre-determined number of laps based on the car's age and specification.

And in 2022, the Pomeroy Trophy introduced an exciting new class aimed primarily at touring cars from the 1970s through to the 1990s and beyond. For this special class, the requirement for all cars to have current road tax is waived. Basic requirements for touring race cars in this class align with standard race regulations, including operational lights, safety equipment, and standard silencing. Cars including from Motor Racing Legend's Historic Touring Car Challenge and Tony Dron Trophy, Goodwood Gerry Marshall cars, as well as any 1960s GT or touring cars running on race-spec tires like Dunlop L's or M's, are all eligible to enter. The main difference in this class is that road legality or a V5C is not required. While these cars won't compete for the overall Pomeroy Trophy (reserved for road-legal cars), they'll vie for the coveted Gordon Spice Cup.

Competing cars can be driven to the event or transported via trailer. The car that clinches the 'Pom' title is always a remarkable all-rounder, driven by a skilled and passionate driver.

Previous winning cars over the last ten years include the:

Subaru Impreza

Nissan Skyline

Ford Escort RS2000

Lotus Elan

HRS Sports

Frazer Nash Targa Florio

The entry fee is £326 for road legal cars(£233 for pre-1940s cars), and £355 for non-road legal Gordon Spice Cup contenders, providing 40 minutes of track time on the Silverstone Historic Grand Prix circuit, making it a genuinely competitive endeavour.

Club Notices / 2024 AGM Proxy Voting Forms
November 12, 2024, 18:53:09
Hi all,

AGM and STGM proxy voting forms attached, along with a summary of the club accounts. Only one technical item, proposed by Martin Harrold, to rescind the rule allowing the use of 2 Tuff jugs per refuelling, on the grounds of requirement for having multiple jugs, plus the safety aspect of additional fuel to be stored in garages.

Looking forward to seeing many of you at the AGM/dinner dance :)

Races (not 24 hr) / VSCC Pomeroy Trophy
February 10, 2024, 11:07:41
Hi all,

I've had a message from the organiser. Seems nobody took up the offer to take part in this which is a bit of a shame. Late entries can be accepted however if anyone still wanted to take part.

If you were potentially interested and decided against it, please could you let me know what changed your mind so I can give the organisers some feedback and see if there's anything that could be done differently in future to encourage participation.

Club Notices / 2023 AGM Summary
December 19, 2023, 20:24:23
Hi all,

Firstly, apologies for the lack of published minutes in the recent past. This is mainly due to sensitive discussions that the board did not want to enter the public domain while discussions were in progress.

Secondly, here follows a summary of the discussion at the 2023 AGM / roundup of where we are. Please take the time to read through:

=======================

Dear Members,

For those unable to attend the AGM, here is a summary of the proceedings and matters discussed:

Board members:
There were a number of board members stepping down at this AGM: Chris Yates, Martin Harrold, Lien Davies and Ainslie Bousfield. While Frieda Perry and Richard Gardiner have already attended some board meetings (and have now been formally voted in as board members), Andrew Bull has agreed to stand in as technical delegate for Lien Davies and David Rutherford has offered assistance with finances and treasury, we are in need of some additional help with the following whether as a fully-fledged board member or on a more informal basis, reporting to the board:

Company secretary
24hr coordination
Membership
Media/Marketing
Race organisation and entries
Race trophies

If you are interested in assisting with any of these roles, please do speak to the board.

Finances:
Thanks to having consistently good grid sizes of 20+ cars, the sprint races have all made small surplus amounts, which goes some way to offsetting the modest loss made by the 24hr race. Our current account has approx. £17,000 and the savings account has £55,000, which may seem like healthy numbers, but are threatened by the BARC now requiring event fees up front some months before each event, which means the reserve needs to be accessed before race entries are received. Some thought will need to be given to moving the payment schedules for races forward in the year to ensure our cash flow is not adversely impacted.

Sprint and 24hr races:
We have 4 sprint races confirmed including the new venue of Lydden Hill. Dates have been communicated to the membership.
Regarding the 24hr race, we feel that BARC have not been overly diligent or proactive in finding series to fill the Saturday track time before our race. BARC have suggested that the cost of the 2024 24hr race is potentially going to be around £100,000, so if the Saturday remains unfilled, there is a threat that race entries per car might increase by up to £1,000.

The ideal solution of course would be for as many as possible 2CV race cars to enter the 24hr race. However, we understand there are challenges, not least finding mehanics and drivers for a full team, so we are looking into other ways to mitigate the costs to teams: for example inviting limited numbers of guest class cars from other championships, reaching out to other series to find takers for the Saturday track time, and reorganising the weekend schedule to lower our costs and/or make it more feasible to find takers for the rest of the weekend's time.

We have also begun to look into other race organisers such as the 750 Motor Club to see if we would be better served in terms of race dates (since we feel that BARC are, having already been given limited race dates by circuits, offering us a very small selection of events. This would be a big step and if agreed on would not be until the 2025 season.

Techical proposals:
TP1: Allow the removal of the redundant handbrake lever, cables, and gearbox mechanisms if not used. (Not Mandatory) - carried.

TP2: Allow the use of the Indicator holes in the front wings as alternative intake points for Brake Cooling ducts. No Protrusion forward of the hole is allowed.   Ducts, taking air from this point, for any purpose other than brake cooling are not permitted. - not carried.

TP3: Allow the use of 2 refuelling jugs per pit stop.  To be used consecutively, and in the same function manner design and type as existing regs. - carried.

As a club, we are exploring as many avenues as possible to keep 2CV racing as a thriving, cost effective series but there may be some challenges for the coming season. We ask for your understanding and that you do your part to making 2024 as smooth sailing and as succesful as possible and we look forward to seeing you in the new year.

Announcements / Pre-AGM Board Announcement
November 01, 2023, 21:04:51
Our 33rd 2CV Racing Season Beckons

At the imminent AGM and Dinner Dance we will be discussing the 2024 season and celebrating the successes of 2023.

To make all that happen takes many hours by the Board members and other willing volunteers. In the recent few years a wide variety of jobs have been shared between the members of the board and others. However, people's lives and priorities change and motorsport and the running of the club evolves and so we are looking for new board members to replace those wishing to step down, as well as helping hands to assist with the workload more informally.

If you feel you can offer support in some way please contact anyone from the board. We will give you our full support to work with us and share responsibilities to keep our club thriving.

The current board :
Chris Hall
Chris Yates
Maria Cooke
Ainslie Bousfield
Martin Harrold
Lien Davies
Matthew Hollis
Frieda Perry (co-opted)

Chris Yates, Ainslie, Lien and Martin are standing down at the AGM but all still retain their interest and affection for the Club and will be around to help the smooth transfer of responsibilities.

Races (not 24 hr) / Barbecues...
April 09, 2022, 13:02:28
The old club BBQ is long since deceased. Before we go about getting a new one, please could we have some opinions on whether everyone would like to continue with doing a BBQ on a Saturday night of weekend meetings / isn't fussed either way / would prefer not to? We'd also be looking for volunteers to store/clean/transport the BBQ, and to help with purchase and cooking of food. Please give any feedback and your preferred choice in the poll.

Races (not 24 hr) / Re: Donington Park 2021
October 02, 2021, 20:26:30
If you don't like the current format, please come to the AGM and make your voice heard. The board can only make decisions based on the opinions that reach us.
Since as it stands the AGM will be able to be held in person this year, please do come and let us know how you'd like the races to be run.
