24h-Race / Re: 24hr race weekend
August 31, 2021, 12:30:42
To all the winners (and for me, each participant is a winner) of this splendid race, I want to assure you of the great show that I watched on my screen, thanks to the live and the timing board.
We felt from a distance the enthusiasm, the joviality of the participants, the good spirit, the fantastic work of the mechanics, and everything that makes us want to run with you soon.
Thanks++ to all of you, from the pilots to the marshals, from the organizers to the commentators, it was really a pleasure to follow.

Hi Alec,
This is my initiative that I put the correct dates, those stated in the first article of speedaction tv were strange  ;D
In the new article below, it is specified that the 14hr race will start shortly after midnight Saturday 31. It will therefore ends shortly after 2 p.m., and will probably have her qualifying sessions on Friday 30.

Take care, and see U healthy  :)

I'm sorry, Trevor, but this device allows you to call pits via a mobile phone left in the car. It's effectively an intercom between pilot and co-pilot, but the most interesting function (besides noise cancellation and connection to a possible camera) is that the pilot uses Bluetooth at no cost to be connected to a mobile phone in pits. For more details, look at the material data sheet.
I'm sure we can keep a level playing field with our reasonably cheap sport : this equipment costs the equivalent of 6 tires... and can serve a lot of times ;)

Hi,
in the minutes :  "MH suggested that radios should be considered for Snetterton as he had heard feedback from the EnduroKA 12 hours that their use added to the enjoyment of the event. These could have a price of around £1,500 which could be too expensive for some teams and Simon Crook also raised the issue of limits on available channels."

Just a modest contribution from me, about the use of radios :
I raced several Belgian 24Hs, with LeMans2CVClassic team (#172), and we thought that having a radio in the future would be a guarantee of safety for the drivers and the team.
In 2018, with team GTE40 (#40), we invested in a paired radio with a mobile phone: the DG-10 Stilo costs 449 € (£ 400) and works with Stilo equipped helmets.

We were very satisfied with the pilot-pit connection, which is done in Bluetooth in the 2CV, and conventional telephone connection then, which doesn't need channels, costs nothing in licenses and almost nothing in telephone costs.
If possible, we'll be happy to use this solution during the participation of LeMans2CVClassic team at Snetterton in 2020.
I don't know if this contribution is timely, but here is my contribution to the debate  ;)

Would it be a problem to use a Bluetooth system that makes the connection between an equipped helmet and a phone positioned in the 2CV ?
This phone calls or responds with a single touch to any other mobile phone, for example in the pits.

The DG-10 Stilo, which our team is using now costs £ 355 (https://rrs-direct.com/intercom-stilo-dg-10-digitale.html).
No licenses to buy, no problem of saturation if too many users, no problem of power output or range.
It allows the connection between the 2CV and its stand, but also if necessary between driver and co-pilot in the 2CV, or can record the sound of the communications to an on-board camera.

24h-Race / Re: Spa 24 Hour - October - Entries Open
September 26, 2018, 09:21:08
Almost official, but we understand why it was unveiled at the very last moment: at the start of the 24H 2CV race at Spa-Francorchamps, there will be 50 2CV (including 3 UK) and ... 77 C1 (including 53 UK !). It's going to be a massacre...  :'(

Thanks Nick, for your informations.
Today, on 2CVRT facebook page, they say "127 cars"  ::)
As we know there is 47 "Euro" 2CV (from Classique to Hybrid), + 24 Belgian C1 + 3 UK Hybrid 2CV, we can calculate there wil be 53 UK C1 on the grid of 2CV 24H race...  :'(

Six months ago, you said "I note the C1's are advertising for entries for the guest C1 24 Hour race which is being run alongside the 2CV 24 Hour at Spa for the 2nd year. They have a limit of 40 cars." Please, do you know if this limit is written somewhere ?

Hi   :)
Currently, there are 26 Hybrides (BMW engine), 1 Experimental (Burton), 5 Améliorées ("Enhanced") and 11 Classiques (:-*) which are on the entrylist.
There are also 22 Belgian C1 registered.
How many do you think there will be UK 2CV (without counting #53), and how many UK C1 ?

Dear Pat and Nick,
thank you for dialogue on this subject, it is always very informative.  :)

Nick, I think what Pat regrets is that Spa's prices (so 2CVRT) are not up to what could be done. Regarding Snetterton, all the Classique teams are well aware that UK Club is making great efforts of information, as well as financial efforts, to welcome the 2CV which resemble 2CV. May you be thanked a thousand times for that !
I'd spoken to the precedent UK Club technical advisor, 2 or 3 years ago, and I'd sent him proposals for merging rules between Classique and Eco, as well as a diagram. It wasn't successful, but it's surely still valid to work with  ;)

Very happy to read that at least two Eco will be present at the 2019 championship. I hope that they'll also participate in the 24HR race, but I imagine that it also depends on the drivers ! (it takes 2 Sprint teams to make a 24HR team ? ;))
As far as refueling is concerned, all British cars (2CV and C1) are currently allowed to use Tuff Jugs, whether in UK or on the continent.
At the same time, all "European" cars (2CV and C1) are obliged to use the refueling tower (2CVRT rules), with the "UN 1A1 / X-1.6 / 400" standard metal drum.
I don't know what it'll be for 2019 ... Wait and see, as you say  ;D

Congratulations on Pete and Alec's registration with Christian and Eric (Seventeen team), and especially for Nick's with his indestructible 2CV 52 !
For my part, I will be very happy to share the wheel of the 40, after three years of effort and savings ;-)

See you soon in Spa, to run or toast in friendship !

Races (not 24 hr) / Re: Rockingham Final Race
September 06, 2018, 11:31:56
Just for information, this weekend comes at the same time as the weekend of Mettet, for the Belgian championship.
I wish that you succeed in gathering a maximum of 2CV in Rockingham to make a very good farewell to this circuit

Thank you Paul and Nick for your answers,
Indeed, the use of Tuff Jugs is quite adapted to the Club, Eco and Classic class, but the expenses imposed on an european team, if one also wants to participate in Spa, make that the refueling tower (~ £ 900) makes budgeting difficult.
The fact that Spa24h rules are written by drivers who are only Hybrid or C1 is problematic, as well as the identical fee for a Euro Classic or Euro Hybrid at Spa (£4300) while budgets are ten times lower.
In my opinion, there is something wrong, but I 've no miracle cure to propose, the expectations of each class being different (and the financial means too)  :'(
For Snetterton 2018, I know that Brokensport team is in, but I do not know about the other teams.
About "Rust'in", its owner doesn't wish anymore (for the moment) her to be broken down during the Spa24h race (as in 2015) and there are only incentive days [url]as shown on this page :  https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1771784912858022
About me, I joined for this year 2CV-GTE40 team, to build a new 2CV and try to have the money for Spa24h (single objective this year) : https://www.facebook.com/teamGTE40/photos/a.505127793002577.1073741829.495889853926371/965956053586413/?type=3&theater
Keep in touch ;-)
Greatings,
Marty
