Messages - Matt Riley

I still haven't got a clue - but that's pretty much the way I go through life anyway - I'm sure I'll sort it out somehow  8)

Got the Snails Pace Annual through the post yesterday though - another great job by Matt and Richard  ;D

Ditto to Frank's comments there ....

...with an impending addition to the Riley household due in May, Nick G and Simon P will be taking my paid-for entries after Silverstone - I'd assumed we'd get separate entry forms for each race - as we did last year - which they could then complete  ???

... also the "just in time" mailing of tickets makes it a pain to distribute them to team members if they're coming from different parts of the country. I know there are ways around it - leaving tickets at the gate (if the person on the gate is feeling friendly that particular morning) etc etc but it's one of those additional hassles to a race day which appears to be pretty needless...

General Discussion / Re: Pembrey New Driver

I'm pretty sure I saw the car sitting on its trailer in Speldhurst this morning - it was a bit of a surprise seeing it parked up a hundred yards or so from where I live - and there I was thinking that I was the only 2CV racer in the village..... :o 8)

Races (not 24 hr) / Silverstone
July 23, 2007, 18:14:00
You're not wrong there Marc - I know I didn't expect to be leading the second lap on Sunday's race after starting on the back row of the grid!

Just to reiterate Trevor - what great clean racing - being in a group of six cars barrelling into corners three abreast and coming out the other side without the tiniest bit of contact is a lot of fun....

Mary - I don't know the exact circumstances so can't comment directly but it sounds like you were unlucky - our car, whilst not untouched at the end of the race, didn't take that many hits.

If you look at club racing in general which consists of, say, 20 minute sprint races - the 24 hour race is the equivalent of 72 sprint races back-to-back! Now I know all contact is best avoided, but if you received some sort of contact in only one in every ten sprint races (all of which took place in such appalling weather as we had at Snett this year) would that be considered so bad?

Back on topic re the low entry for Anglesey, I think there is a case for there to be a much longer gap between the 24 hr and the next race in the timetable: people spend so much time and money preparing for the 24 hours that a break seems to be in order the repair wallets; cars; enthusiasm; family peace - whatever! A two month gap seems reasonable - I suppose we'll see if that's the case once we see the Silverstone entries.

24h-Race / Spa 24hrs - November 2007
March 21, 2007, 15:09:57
If anyone is thinking of going to Spa and is still scouting around for another driver count me in. With a five week old baby I'm getting to be an expert at not sleeping for long periods of time!

I'm supposed to be running the London marathon on the sunday morning so that should be good preparation the day before!

Races (not 24 hr) / Anybody fancy racing at Lydden?
November 03, 2006, 12:39:05
Thanks for the offer Marc - we'll see if anything does come of this. I think I'm already sorted with a car share for the championship enduros - these SEMSEC sprints would just be a nice extra if they actually happen.....

I'd certainly be up for it if some enterprising soul could do me an arrive and drive deal....

Races (not 24 hr) / Race dates and locations
December 06, 2004, 15:39:23
Trevor - do you know when the 24 hour date will be fully confirmed? I'm chatting with potential drivers who'd like to drive with us next year and want to let them know the date as soon as I can.

Many thanks,
Matt
