Races (not 24 hr) / Re: Oulton Park 2023

I should have the footage of your moment. I got a good view of the side of your car, I did think at the time that you need to have an arrow next to the TOW sticker on your door!

Great racing by everyone again.
Our race 2 gets cut short again.
I do hate the BARC. I will send BARC an email, I hope other competitors do too and that the Club gets in contact with BARC. Not sure our Clerk argued hard enough for us.
I am grateful, however, 2CVS aren't the last race of the day anymore, so, whoever negotiated that - well done, lets hope we can keep it that way.
When was the last time the 2CVs had a red flag? And yet we always seem to get penalised.
I noticed Race 1 didn't run the full length. (Although, perhaps a miss calculation as Kris was rapid!)

My issue is that they stipulate "In the event that any race has to be stopped then the Clerk of the Course reserves the right to send the race back to the paddock and only undertake a further restart at the end of the day if time permits." However, the BARC don't follow it through. As I understand it: Junior Saloons had a red flag in R1 which delayed the day. And hence a 12 min race for our R2, which turned out to be 14 mins anyway because of the length of track.
Junior Saloons had another Red Flag in R2 after 1 lap.
The last two races of the day didn't get run according to TSL. Not sure if that was time or weather. Does anyone know?

Does it matter if one of the CV joints are seized - can I still send that to you? Or do the 2 CVs need to be in good working order?

I was just looking this morning.
I think it has all changed - On the BARC website it has the following:
https://www.barc.net/championship_informa/2023-2cv-parts-com-championship/
15/16 April Cadwell
20/21 May Croft
03/04 June Anglesey
08/09 July Thruxton
At least we aren't going to Wales twice!
Hope that helps.

Races (not 24 hr) / Re: Race Dates and venues

Given the choices I favour option B. (I appreciate it is difficult putting a race calendar together that meets the needs of everyone, but it was clear from the AGM that the majority did not want 2 trips to wales 2 weeks apart).

I think I agree with most that has been said. I am keen for an enduro, as I am keen for more track time. I am not keen on 10min Q and a 15min races, however understand the reasons behind this, although I do not agree with them.
I do not want to go to Wales twice and my view is compounded by the trips to Wales being so close together, therefore, I won't go to both Welsh race meetings this year.
We did discuss options at the AGM. My impression was the current race calendar was an initial draft and it was not put in stone as the board were keen to gain the opinion of those at the AGM before finalising the race calendar. Various proposals were put forward because the general consensus was that two trips to Wales were not what was wanted by the majority especially only two weeks apart. I thought it was concluded to change the calendar and the favourite change (and the only change necessary) was to move Anglesey to another track and potentially after the 24hr race to gain cheaper track time, possibly in October.
I realise it is not possible to please everyone all the time, but from my understanding the current calendar doesn't please many.
I am in favour of Pauls proposal to scrap Anglesey and make the enduro as part of the championship. Alternatively, I am in favour to scrap either of the Welsh races and have an additional race after the 24hr.

Races (not 24 hr) / Re: Donington Park 2021

Not a fan of the split single qualifying session for the two driver car teams. I would guess that the first driver will get only 2 full laps and the second driver will get 3 because of the length of circuit.  I hope we go back to the format from previous years.

Great work Martin - well done, just what the 24 hour race needs.

Races (not 24 hr) / Re: Race 2 qualifying??
March 17, 2021, 17:45:06
In 2019 I had three races and one 30 min qualifying session. TSL did the timing and BARC were the organisers. They separated the times every 10 mins. and within each 10 mins it determined your grid position. I guess therefore it can be done.  Did they say why they are not giving us that option?

General Discussion / Archie Brocklebank
May 12, 2019, 08:57:50
With great sadness and loss, young Archie died on 28 April.

Some will have known Archie in his earlier years, he was always cycling around in the paddock, always smiling and cheerful. He grew into a determined, caring, handsome man that continued to smile throughout life. Archie also had a passion for 2CVs, owning his own, which was and will remain a part of Archie.

It is Aubrey's and Hazel's desire to not only welcome people to celebrate Archie's life, but for them to also attend in their 2CVs at Archie's celebration.

Celebration of Archie at St Andrews Church, Kimbolton, Cambridgeshire on Tuesday 21st May at 1:30pm.

Please wear something colourful.

Races (not 24 hr) / Re: Rockingham Final Race
September 04, 2018, 10:08:16
Just seen this post, behind the times as ever: I'd be interested, but do not have any engines left after 24hr race! So would be looking to hire a drive if someone would let me! Have driven Rockingham a few times, superb circuit, whichever route/circuit is chosen and I'd say it is absolutely ideal for 2CVs with the straight. Just make sure your brakes are in good order.

I'll lend you one - Aiming to be there on Friday evening.

I've got sweep stake on 30 minutes lost from our enduro.  Last race on Sunday. Not due to start until 16:20. Bearing in mind caterhams are on the card!!  Anyone know the official curfew?
6:30. Although last year the qualifying started at 6:30 and everyone did three laps before the flag came out.

Luca is racing in race 2. And we are both racing the enduro.
Thanks
