Team Iceni haven't done any 24hr races since it moved to Angelsey and won't be in the future but would sign up in a shot, with 2 x teams if it came back to Snetterton.

The "over a grand" stuff is generally a combined multi-cam video + data logger + dash display, the top end data loggers are ~£500+vat. There are cheaper ones available if you are just looking at lap & sector times, comparisons etc. The extra cost is mainly down to the expandability of the data logger unit and the quality and flexibility of the analysis software.

Also you can add dash displays which, once configured can give you accurate Speed/RPM display, lap & sector times, fully configurable shift-lights and warning lights, potentially ECU data display. A Race-Technology DL1+Dash3 which will do all of this is £650+vat.

I use a DL1 and the associated Video system from Race-Technology VIDEO4. Also couple that with a GoPro which I used onboard the ICENI car. I know a few other use DL1s, Tete Rouge, I know Sammy does and I know Sea Lion do as I helped them setup shift lights and laptime display. Have posted some onboard video from this on the Videos thread.

Well, we were one of the two car with the streaming video, sorry if a lot of it was the inside of our garage :( for the first couple of hours you may also have seen an awful lot of the Steve Walford Motorsport #55 car as we hooked up as draft buddies early on, got split up after a while then I used another car (blue) to draft and catch him back up. Once hooked back up we spent the last 23mins of his stint just inches apart and setting laps over 2 secs quicker than our quali times.

The driver was Nick Clarke (didn't know him before this) and, as I had followed him for so long in out first drafting stint I pretty much knew what he would do where and had complete confidence in him not to make an error, there would have been nowhere for me to go if he did!

This is the second drafting session. You'd probably need to be an enthusiast to watch all 23mins but then again, if you are reading this then you probably are.

HUGE Congrats to team Stinky, they were the first team I drove for in the 24Hr back in 2007 and my introduction to 2CV racing so I have a lot to be thankful for them for.

I'd also like to share this Iceni Racing highlights clip produced by my Co-Driver James Bromley which I think really captures the event.

24h-Race / The 2013 24hr Race Video Thread
September 02, 2013, 11:23:25

Hope this is OK with the mods here but thought it worth setting up a thread which collates all of the various onboard, external and highlight videos from the race.

I was in the Team Iceni #60 car. Disappointing as it was for us with numerous engine and related problems I still enjoyed this event immensely. I had my usual SD (standard def) multi-cam setup in the car, running 2 cameras and telemetry, unfortunately some issue meant we didn't get GPS data during the race so no speed or laptime data available.

I also had a GoPro HERO3 camera in the car but only captured some of the sessions as was using internal battery power and max duration is 1hr26mins.

Haven't really looked at any video from the race yet but will do over the coming days and will no doubt prep and upload a few more if time allows.

These were done during the event....

Onboard - SD footage of a slight crash around midnight with a Euro car.

PS. Some vocalisation in clip 4, can't really hear what I said, something along the lines of "flipping heck" :)

I put together a short video of the Drivers Pitlane Parade which is always a high point of the event for me, not just as it's the end of 24hrs fun and exciting racing but also as it sees everyone show their appreciation for the drivers AND THE CARS. I also added a small clip of Team Stinky's Smokey Finish and our Finish.

Most cars that entered the race should be in there somewhere.

Also as a bit of a laugh for my Racing School buddies I posted a very short clip of one of numerous full opposite lock drifts through turn 1 (Riches).

One of the jobs I do is work for a Track Driving Experience company doing Hi-Speed Passenger rides for members of the Public. For the most part this is in a 450bhp, 6.7Ltr, V8 Supercar (Chevy Lumina/Holden Commodore) which is about as far from a 2CV as you could get.

We are "expected" to put it sideways and drift which with 450bhp and no T/C is not that difficult, this clip just shows you don't need BHP or RWD to drift LOL.

Great to have raced (and drank beer) with you guys. I was hunting you down for 3rd at the the end of my stint (just 8 secs behind) but a mega quick pitstop from yourselves, a not so favourable SC and a great drive from Arno in the last stint meant we couldn't catch you :)

I enjoyed your company, your music, and your beer :) so much I did a little tribute video to you guys.

And heres my opening lap. Caught out by the very slow pace of the rolling start but soon started making places up ... then my windscreen steamed up, really bad for a few laps and there are a couple of near misses in there. Still got passed a few but is was scarey stuff for a while until the temperatures aligned and the screen cleared. We do have a fan but it wasn't sufficient for these early laps.

24h-Race / 2012 24hour Video Links
August 27, 2012, 15:20:18
As i've uploaded a few videos from the race, mostly onboard, I thought i'd start a specific thread to contain video links.

I'll kick off with this one to give everyone some idea what it was like to drive during the huge downpour we had around 3am. This video has the last racing lap before the Safety Car was called and the last lap under the Safety Car before the race was red flagged.

More videos on that channel and more coming soon.

Have posted a few videos up already on my channel but this is from the last 75mins.

With 75mins to go we were in a comfortable 7th place, 8 laps ahead of the next chasing car and no more stops required. Team Manager and 24Hr veteran Greg Page was in the car when he got punted mercilessly into the gravel at Murrarys by Car 17, one of the European cars. Having had electrical/charging problems all race we were now just running on battery power and there was just not enough juice to start the car so we ended up being towed back losing time and with the associated penalty.

Here is the video

Whilst posting I would just like to say what a fabulous event this was and what a great bunch of people the Iceni team were. I'd only secured the drive a few weeks before and realised at about 6am why I love this race and will def be back next year.

Also thanks to all the other competitors, their drivers, teams & helpers, the officials, marshals and everyone else who helped with or attended the event.

Am also looking for a competitve drive. Have raced the 2CV 24hr twice before with Stinky (2003) and a last minute entry in Christian Callandars car in 2009, always quick and consistent.
Also raced in 4 Britcar 24hr races and Nurburging 24Hr twice. 65kgs and 5'8".
