Hi everyone, new here but not new on the racing scene (ask Chris Y...hi Chris!) Check my site if you get a chance www.andrewkitson.com
Derek mentioned that I filmed some of this race and put it on 'youtube'. Indeed I did, I was there with an FF2000 team and took my 'handycam' along (as I did at a lot of meetings then). The 2CVs looked as if they would be such good fun at the hairpin, I had to film it. I have many other racing 'home movies' on youtube.

The clip shows the first ever practice session ( short clip from the entry to the hairpin) then the race. It was a cracker with 4 cars fighting for the lead. The matt black one stood out, nothing like we had seen before at the time, a lowered 2Cv! Please excuse the laughter, not just me, the whole crowd really enjoyed it as you will hear! It was (and still is) a great spectacle.

Andrew,
that is brilliant. I wonder where that 19 years have gone! I was no. 28 matt black 2cv, first ever race. Never seen any footage of it before. I've watched it 3 times now.
Thanks very much for taking the effort do do that for us. :D

Pete, good question...where does the time go? Seems like yesterday.
My studio is only 4 miles from Snett so I always pop-in for a look at the 24.
Let's hope for a sunny weekend for a change!

Do you guys have an annual prize giving dinner? Perhaps I can put that footage onto a DVD ( I'll give it to Chris when I see him) and you could play it on the night to celebrate the 20th? The original is much better quality than you see on you tube.

You can see more of my racing 'home movies' here. Sorry but no other 2cv action.

No Dinner Dance untill next January but that would be a great idea.
Be good to see you at the 24Hr.

Thats fab!    I just had a huddle round my desk watching that coz they all wanted to know what the noise was
Paddock Hill Bend is not flat in top!

Trevor Williams

Pete, what about getting a "20th Aniversary" DVD sorted? Surely lots of people have some video of us over the years (racing that is!)
Some days, it's REALLY difficult being me!

Derek Coghill

Christian was accumulating footage a couple of years ago for the Autosport show; I know he has an in-car video of mine from Spa, he may have (or know of) other stuff too.

2003 was our first year a Snett and it was sunny!

I have 4 x 3hr videos of racing taken on a camcorder by Tim Dodgson from 1992 to 2000. Is it worth looking into doing something on DVD to give away like the annual? We would need someone to do the compiling but I'm sure there would be enough material. Nice idea.

Maybe get Chris Yates to speak to Gary Critcher over on the 10/10ths forum?
Gary works in TV production and produces his own racing DVD's. He also races in historic Formula Ford.  His DVD series is called 'Yesterdays Racers'

Marc Fenner

Ive got some good in car videos too. Even got one of the car catching fire

That footage I shot at Mallory of the first race in 1989 is now available to view at much better resolution. I have uploaded 'windows media player' files to my site. It may take a minute or two to download, so don't panic if all you see is a blank screen! You can find it amongst my movies here:

Chris Yates

Ah, that's jogged my memory!

Andrew - many apologies - I meant to contact you before the new site went live and ask if it was ok to put the YouTube footage on the site, but it slipped my mind. Is it ok to keep the YouTube footage there, with a link to a 'high-quality version' from your site?

andrew kitson

Of course Chris! See you soon I hope.
