On stripping an engine tonight, I discovered that one of the cam lobes is badly worn; Has anyone else had this problem? Cam number is 91.

Geoff Archer

yes 500mile no lobe left on the back inlet, its the only used cam that has been reprofiled i have used,
its a late number,

It's an inlet but the second-back one (n/s cylinder). Spoke to Paul this morning and he said that sticky (not turning) cam followers are the cause; it's not sticky but I suppose it could have been at some point?

Geoff Archer

thats a top kent cams answer, would expect any thing else really,

Nothing to do with kent cams geoff,my own answer.Zoe has had this on a standard cam straight from roy with no reprofiling way back in 2002.Aubrey has also had this problem and the cam followers were tight in the block and concave when they should be convex.

Geoff Archer

wasnt meant as a dig, in principle i see the problem,
