Dear all,

Like many of you, I watched the prog tonight, because Jonathan Gill told me last Monday thathe had been told that the 24 hour feature would be on. And, like you, I was disappointed that it was not shown. I don't know why, and if I get any more info that I can pass on, I will do so.

What we have to remember is that even if the bit does not get on Top Gear, working on behalf of 'Auto Trader', Jonathan did an absolutely super job creating and placing stories in the racing comics and in many of the national dailies and Sundays. There were many more mentions of the race than have ever been achieved before.

There is always tremendous pressure on space in all papers and magazines and for him to achieve what he did achieve created huge awareness of the event which will of great value to the future of our unique 24 Hour race.

Planning on the 2004 event is already well in hand, with lots of ideas being put forward. In many ways it will be an easier event to organise as we have lots of experience to build on. But, like any such event, it cannot stand still, it grows or it dies, so we have to look at new ways to fill the grids and to attract spectators. Just now, we don't know who will own Snetterton then, but of the circuits currently for sale, it is the one least likely to be sold for housing. What we have to do is to ensure that our event has a full field and will remain the centrepiece of a unique weekend.

So, come along to the club AGM at Silverstone with your ideas and an open mind to the motions which will be put forward. I hope to be there and will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Best wishes, Martin H
