battery box

looking at the photos on the gallery, the batteries dont appear to be within a fully enclosed leak proof battery box, is this because they are old photo`s? or is a spill proof battery ok,
this is all the regs state
Batteries The 12 volt battery may be of any size or shape provided it is fitted in the standard position on the bulkhead. The battery and voltage regulator must be firmly secured.
but the blue book says about containment.

I think the blue book about leak proof boxes is just if you have it within the cabin, isn't it?

That's my understanding too Chris though I have not got my copy of the 2012 blue book to hand to check for sure.
