This is not a dig at anyone, but just noting my concerns regarding some onerous advice regarding the Blue Book etc over the past few months.

Firstly, when you sign on at a race, you are making a declaration that you have read and understood the MSA Regulations, namely the Blue Book. This does not mean that you need to know the book inside out, from cover to cover, just that you understand the particular parts that relate to the competion that you are about to take part in

The parts that are relevant to circuit racing are:

A: National Sporting Code
B: Nomenclature
C: Judicial
H: Competitors Licences
J: Competitors Vehicles
K: Competitors Safety (Roll cages, drivers equipment etc)
L: Competitors Tyres
Q: Circuit Racing
Appendix 1: Fees (tells you how much it will cost you to protest / appeal, and how much you could be fined if you are naughty....its £865 maximum under the MSA regs, MUCH more if under the International Sporting Code....)
Appendix 3: Competing Abroad (relevant if you are going to Spa, especially the bit about minimum licence requirements and the fact you will be competing under the local regulations)

Now that may seem a lot of information, but, for instance, the only parts of Section H that are relevant are the ones relating to circuit racing, The only part of Section L that is relevant to 2CV racing is the one that says the Toyo tyres are approved..etc, etc

It doesnt take long the read the relevant sections etc, and also the MSA sends out updates to the regulations with every edition of their magazine.

Please, take some time to read the regs etc, because you don't want to get into the situation of not being allowed to compete because you have taken some wrong advice or didn't know a particular requirement
