I've just been asked this question by email, so I thought I would copy my reply here in case it can be of help to anyone else:

Number backgrounds: despite what it says in the regs, there's no "club supplier" that I'm aware of. Pretty much any sign shop should be able to provide a square of white reflective vinyl though, so that's probably the best way to get it.

Alternatively you can get stuff like this through Ash Carter at 2CV City - but he's pretty busy at the moment.

Sign shops should be able to also cut you some number stickers, which you'll need. You need the following:

1) 3 sets of MSA standard door/bonnet numbers, 9inch / 230mm high at least. Black.
2) 1 set of numbers for the left rear quarter window - 150mm high, in fluoro yellow. Non-reflective.
3) 2 sets of numbers for the tuff-jug - at least 100mm high - any colour - for "both sides of the jug".
4) 1 set of numbers for the front windscreen - needs to be reflective. Any colour. about 100mm high although this isn't specified in the regs.

In addition to the above - both door number squares need to be lit by a small light located above the number square. The regs say: "two side door competition number lights (white facing downward on top of each number)" - for this I use trailer / truck number plate lamps, like these : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-X-6-LED-REAR-LICENSE-NUMBER-PLATE-LIGHT-LAMP-TRUCK-CARAVAN-TRAILER-12v-24V-/152028264091?hash=item236597369b

Please make sure you all have these numbers in place before the event. They're in the regs and have been for a number of years!
