returning racer questions

Hi,
Coming out to play this year and 2 quick questions
1. Do you need racing membership of BARC or just club membership?
2. What's the preferred method for transponders, last time round I owned one but do most people rent, and if so from whom?

Racing membership unfortunately.
I hired from TSL for a couple of years
https://www.tsl-timing.com/
It's £40 per weekend, even the 24hr, so good value.
They time the events, so really the only place to hire from.
Buying one still requires a licence rental, so only a little bit of a saving, but you don't have to remember to collect and give back the transponder.

Transponders from mylaps.  Plenty of second hand ones and the. You create an account with my laps to pay for a subscription.  More cost effective than renting race by race over two years.
