I guess this is the right category for this question but how much show we budget for for a year.

I understand should budget around £3000 for the 24 hour race but how much for a regular race. is it £170 ish for the entry fee? and how much do you guys budget on spending per race?

And as we are starting totally from scrap we so far on the shopping / ebay list have a van, trailer, car (would help), modification to car, full on tool kit, helmets, overalls, boots, gloves, National B license day, club membership, decals, tires, beer, more beer, interest free credit cards, any other basic stuff we need?

So much to learn

Jeremy.
The budget depends on a lot of things. We have people that do race on a budget and people that spend quite a lot.
Things that cost money are tow vehicles (fuel),practice days, mates and hangers on,accomodation, food, beer, fuel for the car, maintainance, race entries etc etc.
Once you have all your stuff,a typical race weekend can be in region of £300.
I think you'll really enjoy it once you've got everything sorted out,but it does take a bit of organising to start with.
I may be able to help you out with good tool prices and anything that you may need from Demon Tweeks as I get good discounts from them through work.
Most of us are very happy to give you help and advice on anything you've got questions about, always best to ask first, saves hassle later.
You will find my e-mail address in my profile, please feel free to contact me if you want any help.
I take it you'll be at the 24hr race, ask questions there and have a good look at the cars.
Cheers
Pete

Jeremy, I think you missed out a beer there.

Beer and optimism are what you need.

All you need is money for the entry fee, the fuel to get there and some money for paint to make the car look good. Thats about all we spend and i would think 2cv racing is still the cheapest form of circuit racing motorsport in the UK.
