Hello All,

Great to see Stinky Win. Congratulations to one and all.

Its also very good for the club and general moral to see a differnt name at the top.

So come on you Holli. We need you to win it next year, another very much deserving team and club stalwarts too.

Races (not 24 hr) / Re: 2CVs at Donington

Yes there was a folder with all the information in which I used to collate as best I could from actual information and the lies, damn lies and statistics that were put on the various commentary notes.

This beautifully bound folder was obviously deemed such an momentus and historic tome that it was worthy of becoming a collectable. (Someone nicked it). This is why is is no longer available as it was stolen from the commentary box at Snetterton 2009. Whilst I expected to see it on thievebay soon after or even reappear sheepishly at a future event, alas it has never returned. No doubt Lord Lucan is reading passages from it to Shergar as I type.

Anyway, I gave a fresh copy of the new bumpertastic 2013 Snails Pace Annual to the commentary team before our races as I do every race weekend as Matt always supplies a few extra for me. (Great job Matt)

I know the commentators do hold our racing in high regard but we have to remember the purpose for them is to be the 'Ring Masters' of the show. A race meeting is a Circus, where everyone thinks their 'turn' is the most important. We do not create the 'ooohs' of the high wire act, nor the 'ahhs' of the acrobats. So perhaps were are seen as the clowns and perhaps some even laugh, but we entertain. Television is Entertainment. Racing is a Sport.

Off for a lie down!

I agree with Paul. :o

Wayne has failed to take in to account all the 'incidental costs'. Those Zinger Tower Burger Large Meals and Pints of Stella dont buy themselves!

I only work half days but I must go through £20 a day in Brake and Clutch cleaner and latex gloves, and that is before I get anywhere near the car. The cost of cardboard is also going through the roof and you even have to put the holes for bolts in it yourself!

Can we get one of those temporary speed signs that show your speed and a smiley or fad face?

Club rents it and EVERYONE can see if you were speeding.

Might even be good for the spectators in the night, keep us all entertained.

We must know a man who can got hold of one.

Cheers

No doubt this will be taken down, but here goes.....

Dear Classic 2CV Racing Club

A most sincere thank you to all of you who signed the letter presented to BARC regarding the exclusion of car 80 from the Croft Endurance Race Results.

A particular thank you to Philip for approaching the subject with BARC on several occassions and assisting with a letter and presenting it on behalf of the club.

I realise that you may have the opinion this attempt was a little pointless and acaedemic but I remain very disappointed in the decision that the BARC took as I still believe it was fundementaly unfair. The fact that Trevor has picked up that we were disqualified also irritates me as I feel we have been accused of trying to, either gain an unfair advantage or, flaunt fire safety rules. Therefore I am either a cheat or someone who is prepared to put my fellow competitors and friends at risk. It remains my opinion we did neither and followed a precise instruction which was not superceded by a less precise one.

At our drivers briefing we were told in no uncertain terms that our driving standards were below the required standard for our championship and it was our responsibilities as racing drivers to correct this before it was taken out of our hands. Unfortunately it seems we can not question the administration standards at the event despite a complete intransigence and point blank refusal to admit any responsibility by BARC for being the root cause of the misunderstanding.

On Sunday afternoon I asked BARC staff for a list of drivers names for a petition (as they had supplied only an hour previously). I was asked what is was for and explained it was for a petition regarding the exclusion of car 80 fromm the 2 hour endurance race. I was then told I would not be issued with the list - hence why the list that was circulated was handwritten unlike that for new car 7. I am afraid it is hard to understand how this refusal can not be viewed as a deliberate atempt to obstruct the process of the petition. Perhaps it was in the hope that the issue would then disappear and the opinion of the paddock could be ignored?

At a time when numbers on the grid are low this type of attitude does nothing to encourage me to get the car out again after 7 years. Except for the kind support from all the other drivers taking part and who all signed the petition, without exception. Perhaps we have a broader perception of what is fair than those who organise our Championship?

Thank you

Ainslie

(These are my own opinions [Ainslie Bousfield] and do not claim to reflect the opinions of any other individuals or members of the Classic 2CV Racing Club, their sponsors or associate members.)

Should the BARC wish to contact the club regarding this post on a legal basis can I ask that the members of the club do not response but forward the correspondence directly to myself. I will then reply having consulted with one of the signatures of the Petition, Mervyn Rundle at Solicitors Title.

Thank you all for your support – the weekend went well with the team finishing 22nd out of 60 teams. Ainslie had some track time in Friday practice to get used to the car and the full circuit. It was a dry day so he got his confidence up once he was braver with the right pedal!
On Saturday morning the car then had an alternator problem and wouldn't re-start so Ainslie didn't get to do his 3 qualifying laps – luckily the officials cleared him to take part in the race.
The race started with the other team members doing their stints in turn until the Caterham was fixed and it was Ainslie's turn to go out. By this time it had been raining so the target was to put a fast lap in without spinning as the conditions were so different. Despite the car and weather issues (and other challenges too numerous to mention!) the team had fun and gained valuable experience for next time.
The team so far have raised £1,885 for Cancer Research and if you would like to make a donation it is not too late to do so - please go to www.justgiving.com/ubisense.
Many thanks again, Tracey

General Discussion / Ainslie's Caterham Adventure
October 18, 2010, 14:12:51
Hello All,

The CEO where I work, Richard Green is a petrol head and has entered a team into the Birkett 6 hour Relay Race that takes place at Silverstone on the 30th October. The team consists of 6 so knowing that Ainslie goes racing (and has experience of endurances) asked if he wanted to join in and take his Caterham C400 for a spin (not literally we hope!) round the track a few times.

Sadly earlier this year Richard lost his wife to cancer and is on a mission to find ways of raising money for Cancer Research and the invaluable work they do. So having covered the cost of the team himself we are looking for donations/sponsorship for the team which will go directly to the charity.

Please follow the link below to a JustGiving web page that will allow you to sponsor them should you so wish, no matter how small a contribution it all helps!

Thanks all
Tracey

General Discussion / The Club 'Never Up'
April 14, 2010, 20:05:27
Dear All,

Does anyone know where the 'Never Up' is? (The club EazyUp Portable Shelter, to those not in the know)

I think it would be nice to have it at Mallory as it is club branded and it might get 'ont telly'

Anyone owning up?

Cheers

 :D//

That is great news Paul, thanks for all your help getting the information all together.

If the guys listed can get there money in to the approved sources (Steve Panas or Christine Thompson) depending on your championship staying power as soon as possible that would be a great help.

Dont forget, clean pants for the telly!

Off topic / Re: Brake Cleaner
August 25, 2009, 17:48:00
Does this mean I should stop using brake and cluth cleaner as hand cleaner? Nothing else hits the spot! and *%llocks if it no good for you.

I firmly believe that the age of the 'Metrosexual' male are over.
No more Pimms and lemonade, salad or L'Oreal moisturiser for men.

Women now want the 'Retrosexual' man.
More Pints, Pies and smelling of brake and clutch cleaner!

General Discussion / Re: 2009 Rookie Championship
August 25, 2009, 12:42:36
Hi Frank

Thank you for your kind offer to sponsor the 2010 Rookie Championship.

I am not sure that there is not a petetual trophy already but if you still have yours that will prove it  :D I might be getting the driver of the year trophy muddled up with the rookie trophy. If someone else can tell us then that would help.

Otherwise, if you are OK with stumping up a trophy I will keep track of the rookies if thats OK with the club.

If you were able to present the trophy at the dinner and dance or the last race of the season that would be ideal.

24h-Race / Re: 20th anniversary
August 13, 2009, 08:58:18
I am guessing that if we start earlier we will cut in to previous days racing so it will cost quite a bit more  :( or if we finish later we cut in to some serious drinking time  :P.

Does anyone know what the current longest enduro race is? If it is 25 hours why not go 26 and really plug it as the longest endurance race in UK/Europe/World

Perhaps we could get some sponsorship from Duracell or Energizer or Red Bull for lasting longer!

If we couldnt get sponsors for the race how about having a charity as the race sponsor. This would not bring money in but would bring so much publicity. Can you imagine what a good story it would make that after 20 years of racing we decide to give something back. Perhaps Snetterton could offer it's entrance fee takings for the day to charity. Perhaps the charity could supply a celebrity to start the race! (I am rambling now)

If the marshalls are up for it, it could be done. An extra 2 hours isnt really going to make much difference to how tiring it is.

We couldnt do it without the marshalls. (Break tables that is)

If we had stayed in Tyrells all night I do not think we could have decided who was more mad, the teams or the marshalls! But just remember who had to stay on post all through the fog :D

I will also never forget the lady marshall who ran to the edge of the track to wave us through on the slowing down lap, only to then run away as if in fear of her life, as we came around Sear.  :-*

You are all stars. Especially John as he got the Mike away from Kevin.

See you all in Tyrells next year!
