Before I trawl the wonders of Google, I was wondering if anyone had any good recommendations as to where we can buy some Firestone 145/15 tyres from?

No ,i can get michelins but they are £74 each with the vat .

Importer of the Firestones is North Hants Tyres 01252 318666. When the club ordered 150, they came in at around £49 each

Been doing a bit of digging and chatting to people and there maybe a new tyre option. Pirelli are doing a 145/15/80 or something very simular. I dont think its a market tyre though. I believe its being made for the smart club. Have got someone looking into it at the moment.

It's a Smart car size, certainly; I think there are 135 and 145 available, both /80 profile. OE tyres were Continentals.

Well it might be worth the club looking into as they will have a modern tread and be fairly cheap i would have thought

They're not cheap, certainly not £50-odd. German OE stuff seems to be expensive because of TüV and type approval issues. What's the problem with what we're using at the moment?

Bridgestone. Continental and Pirelli make tyres that fit the Smart car wheels. I believe they are all from ranges that are approved for motorsport by the MSA. Last time I checked they did not make 145/80 size, they are lower profile, therefore affect gearing etc (someone who knows more about this could explain)

Only other problem is that tyres are covered by the Technical Regulations, which unless someone submitted a proposal to change them, cannot be altered until the 2009 AGM for the 2010 season.

Right ok well i will do a bit more digging. The guy i spoke to seemed to theink that thery were making them just for a smart car club as he had some on his road 2cv.

If it turns out they are 145/80 then i will get someone to write a letter.
