Testing at Croft on Friday

The circuit manager at Croft called to confirm testing arrangements on Friday. The testing fee covers the car and one driver. Any number of others can drive, but each one is £25 + vat extra. All must sign on and pay any amount outstanding in the morning, before going on track, as normal.

Do we know who has the garages?

Chris Yates

Unfortunately it looks like the Clubman's Cup get the garages.

We get "Paddock C" - which is also known as the arse end of the runway.

Chris Yates

Finals and timetable for this event are now available on our website.

nick nice toes

Paddock C !!!!!!!!!
How are people supposed to have spares for the enduro if we have to travel from the runway !!!

naughtybear

Agree with Nick we all need to email BARC and put our case forward

I have to agree with Nick and Ash - does seem a little daft putting us that far away - I am sure that the club will speak on all of our behalf to the BARC before we starting emailing the BARC directly.

Agreed it's crap. The thin end of a wedge. It needs a formal protest to make a stand.

Added to the same paddock problem was the Oulton park thing where people were scattered far and wide. The problem being that the Friday is a MSV test day so they allow people to set up anywhere as Sat - Sun is nothing to do with them. So the BARC paddock plan falls at the first hurdle.
A steward on the gate asking A are you only here for the day ? please park at so & so B if you are here for the weekend your spot is at X.
A word in the right ear might overcome this problem.

Here's the situation:

Currently David Wheadon who is the competitions administrator at BARC, is out of the office from end of yesterday until Thursday next week. It is David who manages race entries at the BARC end and arranges paddock plans, etc.

I've spoken to Paula (officials secretary) today at BARC and advised her of the situation, I've also sent off an email to David, Paula and Ian Watson. Ian is out of the office (at Donington) until Tuesday.

I suspect David or Ian will have to contact the other co-ordinators and ask them if they'd be ok to swap. Not 100% sure about that.

The problem now is that unless the paddock plan is changed quickly and then circulated to the various championship coordinators, who can then update their competitors, AND the BARC website is updated, a lot of the Max5s or whoever will simply use the current one and most of us will end up having to use the runway (paddock C) and/or be split off from the rest.

I hope everyone can appreciate that all of the above may not go smoothly. All we can do is ask BARC for the paddock plan to be changed, and I have done that. I'll follow up with a phone call on Monday afternoon / Tuesday morning.

As for the steward on the gate - the usual response to this from organising clubs is "who will pay for this person to stand around telling people where to go"? However, usually at Croft, the gate staff are pretty clued up about where everyone's supposed to be - especially if you're towing a caravan!

Something to add to the planning / action list when next year's race schedule is first announced.
